By now, I'm sure everybody have read or at least heard of the accidents involving a few cars and bus at PLUS Highway 223 or better known as Simpang Ampat.
The number of deaths was 15. Not to mention those in critical condition and also those in trauma over this incident. Now, I am not going to go into details on this matter but I'm just going to ask a question - Why is this happening?

Too often we read about a bus involving in an accident - especially during festive seasons. Too often there are huge amounts of deaths or casualties. Now how can this happen? Is it the driver's negligence? Or is it the responsibility of the management? How about the owner of the bus? Most of the time there might be a problem with the vehicle itself, be it failure of the brakes or worn out tyres or many other mechanical things. Then add that with human error, and you've got fatalities that some other country only get because of war. Although some may not want to admit this, but I find it incredibly stupid to die for no reason - like some roadkill frog - when you could've died for so many other patriotic and memorable ways.
This same goes to deaths of pilots that died on routine training flights because of flying some rusty old Nuri bought some time in the late 60's that has been used, re-used and should be sent to scrap metal shop instead of having someone fly them. OK, I know it's better to just throw out the old and in with the new, but let's say, hypothetically that our Government is very very poor, then why not use some of the money that's still there (There are still some money there right? I mean if you can spend RM400million for 1Malaysia F1 team, don't you at least have another RM1million to spare for emergencies?) for maintenance on the current aircrafts we have now. Instead of tendering ridiculously high priced projects to replace the old aircrafts with new toys that might get rusty without proper care, let's allocate some of those money for the maintenance part that can sustain the aircrafts we have for many more years to come.
I think this behaviour of appreciating what we have and taking care of it through maintenance should start from the bottom of the pyramid right up to the top. In the long run, we can save more money and not forgetting to mention the lives as well as allowing people to keep having jobs for many years. Now, isn't that a win-win situation?
OK, I'm sure some of you know I drive almost everyday (from my rantings in Twitter) and that I go through Federal Highway to go to my destination. Two days ago, I was on the highway as usual, driving on the right lane during heavy traffic when this lorry suddenly zooms next to me. I was so surprised to see the tyre of this lorry. OMG!
Look at the tyre!
Close-up
Isn't that a threat to other road users' safety? What if he loses control of his lorry? What about all the other vehicles on his right and left? Right after I took the picture, someone from two cars ahead of me called out to the lorry driver and was pointing at the lorry's tyre. The Indian dude - the driver - just kept on nodding and drove off. I wonder where he's going though as far as I know, there is no lorry workshop from where we're at or any where towards KL. So he's risking his safety and the safety of others to go to wherever his destination is instead of having the tyres fixed immediately after it exploded.
Now who's to blame?
Lives cannot be bought. Let's not waste it in vain.

it does not matter how good, how efficient, how safe the vehicle is if the person is not a safe driver... >:o >:o
:*
OMG.. wah really taking a risk ah the driver.. kalau dia jer yg cedera tak per.. but if what if other innocent lives are taken away because of his tidak apa attitude? He should be shot!
oh voted for you today!! yihaa!
aiyohh so nice to see my score on the FCSB.. ehehhe... 7.. lovely number 7...lol!
8-) 8-) 8-)
Obviously it will be the driver's freaking fault should anything untoward happens... very dangerous la! :( :( :( :(
What that truck should be pulled off the road and not let back on it till they fixed that tire. Like you said Bella if he keeps it up he is going to kill somebody and it could be him. =-O :(
can't agree more.
must have safe vehicle + safe driver too..
what the ???
is the truck driver insane? what's he doing driving something like that. worst, rear tire for crying out loud.. if he brakes n it don't work? one day he's gonna do a lot of damage. someone should sue his ass
that tire looked like it has seen many better days.. lucky nothing happened when the truck was next to u..
i agree 100% with u sweetie.. use the money for long term effect.. safe vehicles n safe drivers is the answer to all these problems!
That kind of tyre can kill if it somehow gets loose from the rim and fly towards any unlucky driver on road.
It's not a myth - proven by Mythbusters in one of their episode

omg!its so dangerous for others driver okie..
Yup, it is dangerous.. But dia relax je cruising macam takde pe2.. Takutttt
Yeah, he IS crazy. Maybe I should make a report or something? Hmm
Yup it is. But apparently he don't think that. How ignorant >:o
Yeah, tp bukan sekarang je. Dah lama dah perkara begini. Tapi bila mula2 kejadian berlaku, semua org bising2.. After a while, dah senyap. Sepatutnya can't do that. I know Malays usually think that dah ajal, terima lah. But then it does not teach those who made the mistake anything. Patutnya after an accident happen (disebabkn negligence), family of the deceased should bring this thing to court and sue the life out of those terlibat. Haaa baru ajar cukup2
You watch Mythbusters too? I like watching them too.
Ya, true. Especially if the driver accelerates to a certain speed, if that thing comes off, it can cause serious harm and damage. That's why I tried very hard to be away from the lorry even though I should be driving next to it. I don't want to invite problem to myself.
This is a very good example of BAD road users in Malaysia.
Yup it looked like that alright. Luckily I get out of harm's way the minute I saw it. Hopefully nothing crazy happened after I speed away from the lorry. :(
:) :) As the nation, we should do something. Make our voices heard
Yup, true. I wonder why he wasn't stopped by a police or something. I saw a police car ahead of me a few metres before the lorry drove next to me. Our authorities are very funny. They have eysight problem at the wrong time
Usually orang macam ni akan mencederakan orang lain or membunuh orang lain tapi dia sendiri tak mati. That's why terjadi perumpamaan - "Kecik2 tak nak mampus, dah besar susahkan orang!" LOL
Yeay! Thanks for the votes LJ! *Hugs*
Still got few more days before end of the month to UP your FC scores :-D
True true.. Agree with you on that
OMG!!! I am racking my brain trying to find a word that can describe how idioticly selfish this person is but I can't!
My husband makes the long drive from KLIA-Subang on a daily basis and this is what I'm afraid off. Stupid, ignorant, crazy people!! This post should be brought forward to the media and show them that this is what Malaysians have to deal with. For all you know, the driver might not even have a valid Malaysian drivers license!! GERAM BETUL!!!
Yes, true memang ignorant. And kalau dia je yang mati ke, takpe jugak sebab dia yang cari nahas but kalau libatkan orang lain? Rileks je he goes and drive the lorry kat Federal like nobody's business. Dah la banyak kereta.. Cuba kalau benda tu tercabut and bang a car? Say, a weak little kancil? Tak pasal2 je.. Ish!
Do you think the media cares? *DONT_KNOW* *DONT_KNOW* *DONT_KNOW* >:o >:o
