Landslide at orphanage

When I first saw the tweets on my Twitter time line about the landslide at Rumah Anak Yatim Hidayah in Hulu Langat, I was so shocked. Firstly because I was at home (Kajang) at the time and the weather was so hot whereas on the news it said that there was heavy rain at the location - which is not so far from my house anyway. I tried what I can with the tweets, hoping that the works can be done faster if they get the sufficient help.

A few hours later however, Elizabeth Wong (ADUN Selangor) tweeted this :

When my parents came home from the other house, I departed the news about what happened. My Dad said he heard the news on the radio but my Mom was more shocked than me when she heard the news because she had been to the place many times before. She knew those people and one of the orphan there was adopted by her - sort of like a Godmother program where you help them with their needs like clothes, school stuffs, etc.

No wonder I thought the name of the place was familiar.

 Photos courtesy Berita Harian Online

Mom started crying when she saw the photos of the destructive place. Her contact, an ustazah there informed that her adopted son is fine but the boy's best friend passed away. Two of the people she was close with also passed away. The ustazah told us not to come today because it was still raining albeit only drizzling but with the number of crowd there, she thought it would be unwise. She told us to come tomorrow instead. Maybe we can help them with some essential items - such as blankets. food, extra clothes, etc.

To my dear Muslim friends, let us all recite the Al-Fatihah for the deceased and pray that their souls rest in peace and be placed amongst the blessed alongside Allah s.w.t.
For those who are safe, let us also help them in any way possible so that we can at least help lighten their burden and the loss of close friends or families.

Al-Fatihah!

P/S : Name list of victims here.

Dilemma

I am in a dilemma. I have no idea what phone to get for myself. Oh wait, correction, I have no idea what phone I should tell B-bunz to get for me. I have been putting this off for quite a long time but it's just that I cannot decide which phone is best for me.

Recently a friend got an iPhone 4 and from what I read, the phone and the applications are so interesting that I was on the verge of converting into an iPhone supporter, which is highly unlikely because I am and had always been this super-duper-in-LOVE-with-BlackBerry person. At first, I am not so into the touch screen thingy on iPhones and thought the QWERTY keypads of BlackBerry is awesome. Then suddenly they threw BlackBerry Torch into the picture and I was hooked on to the idea of having both touch screen and QWERTY keypad all in one. It's like the ultimate package!

BlackBerry Torch 2

Then suddenly they said that later this year they will be releasing the BlackBerry Torch 2 that runs on better processor, which means less lagging than the current BlackBerry Torch. And I was thinking to myself, OK, maybe I should wait until that one comes out. Plus, B-bunz wants me to choose something that I love and I  also don't want him to waste his money buying something for me that I might end up hating in the end. The only downside of this BlackBerry Torch 2, the outside is just the same as BlackBerry Torch except for it's matte silver finish. I was hoping it might have bigger screen, but looks like that's not what those BlackBerry people care about at the moment.

White iPhone 5 rumor

So then my attention is diverted to another news that says iPhone 5 will also be released this year. One thing about iPhone 5 that is rumored to be different from the current iPhone 4 is the screen size. I love the idea of having a bigger screen because all these years I have been using this small screen phone such as my current Sony Ericsson K630i and most of the time I just wish I could read my emails or play even the simplest game on a much bigger, clearer and smoother looking screen.

Now I am in a dilemma. Which one should I choose? If only BlackBerry Torch 2 had bigger screen, I would choose that in a beat. Argh! Which one should I pick? Which one??

Think to self : Hmm.. What if I ask BOTH from B-bunz? Would he be such a sweetheart and buy me both? LOL!

Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are parents!

Oh yeah.

Pregnant Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom, 34 and Miranda Kerr, 28 got married last year, some time in July. Miranda announced her pregnancy in August and now the bundle of joy has arrived. The beautiful baby boy, born on 6th of January 2011 and weighed 9 lb 12 ounces was named Flynn. Miranda posted her first photo with baby Flynn breastfeeding on her blog and the photos are now circulating the web.

Miranda Kerr and Baby Flynn

Miranda wrote on her blog that she gave birth to Flynn naturally without the help of drugs or painkillers. She was glad that Orlando was helping and guiding her throughout the long, arduous and difficult labour. Looks like all is great in the Kerr-Bloom company.

However, the photo of Miranda breastfeeding have resulted to mixed feelings from the public. There were many who applauded her for putting up the photo as an encouragement to mothers (especially new mothers) to be more open to public breastfeeding and further help the development of their babies. But there were also negative comments left that ranged from mild to downright mean.

Personally, I have no problem with public breastfeeding. I am not sure I would be doing it someday but I don't feel gross when I see someone does it because I know they're doing it for the benefit of their baby. They're not purposefully flashing their boobs at you, you know. Babies who breastfeed are healthier and have lower risk to diarrhea, vomiting, allergies and others. I wonder why these people are leaving such mean comments. Sigh.. Maybe they're just jealous she's looking all rosy after just giving birth the past few weeks.

What? I'm not a Virgo?

The 12 Signs of the Zodiac

If you have read the news lately, it seems the Zodiac that we believe we were is no longer true. I am a Virgo - or was - according to the astronomers. Since the astronomers from Minnesota Planetarium Society decided that the alignment of the stars are pushed by another month due to the moon's gravitational pull on Earth, then this would also mean that I am no longer a Virgo. The horoscope readers are going to have a field day, I'm sure.

I have the whole personality of a Virgo. So who am I to believe?

How about you? Is your Zodiac sign the same or has it changed? Well according to those brilliant fellas at the Minnesota Planetarium Society, these are the new Zodiac signs :
Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17.
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.

Although astrology had changed a few times before like the Ancient Babylonians who threw out the Ophiuchus (the snake sign) so that they have 12 signs instead of 13 and having the Libra sign in the group during Julius Caeser's era, personally, I think we've used the 12 Zodiac signs for far too long to change them now.  Plus, I feel that the description of my Zodiac sign is true to my personality compared to me being a Leo. *raise eyebrows*

Oh well, I think at the end of the day, this whole Zodiac thing is a load of bull anyways. LOL!

My Traffic Summons

When the news came out that there were 2 weeks for the Malaysians to get 50% off traffic summonses issued before December 2010, I didn't want to pass up the opportunity. I've got three summonses and each summon is RM300. I do not want to pay RM900 just like that! So, one day, I went to The Curve's Traffic Police Booth to make payment.

I hate waiting!

I was there at 1.45pm because it is said that the booth is opened at 2pm and already by the time I arrived, the queue was going so far outside of the lot. We waited and waited until 2.20pm until two policeman came and opened the booth. And then we had to wait another 20 minutes because the system was offline. Sigh.. I don't know how they handle this but this is not a very good job. Not only I was unable to pay my summonses online at either of the online websites (myeg, rilek and others) because the users online were too many at one time but making payments at the booth is also another hassle.

Snaking to the front

All in all, it took me TWO HOURS and TWENTY MINUTES to pay my summonses. I was ready to drop dead because there were no seats or whatever. We had to stand all the way.

All the way to the back

The funny part was, due to the long time queuing, we end up making new friends. LOL! The guys in front of me exchanged Facebook addresses, the woman in front of me told me all about her daughter and what they're doing now and best part is, I even found out the father of the guy behind me is a playboy and he found out he had half-sisters at his father's funeral! Wow, I really got the juicy dish on all these people - a bunch of people that I'm sure I wouldn't get to know or have anything to start a conversation with if we were thrown in another different scenario than paying summonses. LOL!!

But what sucks the most was, few days later, I read on Star Online that the Government decided to give 50% off summonses issued before December 2010 and it can be paid any time. Damn. If only I waited for another few days. I don't understand why our Government can't just make one good decision and stick to just that. Ugh!

Luckily I didn't have such a bad time queuing up to pay my summonses. You guys who were queuing in front and behind of me are hilarious!

So many shocking news

I was sifting through the web trying to find out the meaning of this dream I had been having when I came across a news about a woman's disfigured body found at Genting Highlands, nearby a Chinese Temple at Gohtong Jaya. Now, the only temple I can think about located at Gohtong Jaya is the Chin Swee Temple, of course, which I had been to only once in my life during the MySelangorStory tour.

It was creepy to read that the body, believed to have been a woman yet unrecognised because there is no identification documents with her or on her decapitated body. The woman's head and torso was found in a bag around 12.30pm near the temple whereas her limbs - left leg and right arm - were found at another location nearby. The other two limbs are left unfounded. The police believed that the woman is in her teens.

You may read about it here. It is in Bahasa Malaysia though.

Then, as I was browsing through the online news page again, I came across another news of a decomposed woman's body found in Kuala Selangor. This woman was believed to have died in about a week ago, based on her body's composition. However, her identity is unknown because there is no identity documents with her.

You may read about this news here.

Oh my, all these news of women being murdered and everything is really scaring me. Since I have to travel to class or work every day by myself, the thought of being anywhere close of such possible incidents is giving me the shivers. It is so unsafe these days, where people kill because of jealousy or just a simple misunderstanding. People don't seem to be afraid of the consequences of murdering. It seemed like the best resort is just to kill someone you hate or causing extreme harm to them as a way to satisfy your anger, greed or whatever other deadly sins.

For those who only seek a peaceful life, how shall we live?

Is it fair for us to live in fear most of the time because of the increasing number of psychos in this world? Should we start owning a gun just to feel safe? Is this what our lives will be from now on? Is this all that our future generation have in store?

Where is the humanity? Why has it come to this?

Crushing Bunnies for Money!

Remember my last post about this woman who sit on bunnies and crush them to death? Apparently, after a "human flesh" search is done - which according to the Chinese internet users, it is the use of individual networks to uncover the real identity of a person - the woman is found and is actually a nurse working at a hospital in the northwestern province of Heilongjiang.

Her name, is Huang Xiaoxiao.

It is said that she is paid by a group of "crush fetishists" to record those horrifying videos. Huang Xiaoxiao informed that this group pays her from 100 yuan (USD15) for crushing fruits until 200-300 yuan for other small animals and up to 400 yuan for rabbits. This girl said that she had done a few videos for the group and has been paid accordingly. It looks like this same group might also be responsible for the video that came out in 2006 of a woman crushing puppies to death with her stiletto heels.

These sad pathetic little psychotic women, doing all this for MONEY?? And a meagre amount for that matter! WTF?!

How much does she make with her pay as a nurse? Is it so little that she had to resort to killing animals to live? To think that nurses are responsible to care for you just like doctors are and that this same woman is responsible for the murders of all those innocent animals is mind boggling! You know, at this point, I think making money as a prostitute is so much respectable than making money killing animals. And for what? Just to satisfy the fetish of other equally sad pathetic psychotic aliens on this planet??

OMG, I am so angry. I AM SO ANGRY recalling how these girls can giggle and laugh while they sit on those poor bunnies just to get 400 yuan! That's only USD60! Oh gosh, if only I have the power to blow these crazy assholes with my mind with some Jedi-like powers, I would just blow up all these crazy fetishists  right now.

The worst part is when the woman responsible of killing these bunnies can actually defend her actions first before recording an apology for her actions. Seriously, throw her apologies into the drain. If you don't think you fall under the "I'm a Moron" category, then you know her apologies are worthless. She's going to do this again and again and again even if she's just paid USD60. To know that she would accept blood money like that, she is as psychotic as all these fetishists.

Put her in jail. Put those who had done the same thing she did behind bars too. Speak up for these innocent animals since they can't do it for themselves!

Happy Halloween 2010!

Looks like it's already the end of October. Another two months and we'll be saying Goodbye 2010 and Hello 2011. Time sure flies huh? Before you know it it's Monday and the next minute it's already Friday. Sometimes I just wonder where my whole week have gone. I miss the older days when everything moves in slow motion and less pressure in store. Maybe this is how it feels to be grown up. Or maybe it's just the world getting older with me.

Whatever it is though, it is Halloween and although I have a few invites for parties, I'm not much of a person who likes late night dancing and drunkards. No, I don't drink. Plus the smell of alcohol puts me off.

Hey, have you heard of Ray Villafane? I saw a newspaper column on him and the things he carves. He is a school teacher who loves to carve as a hobby. One of the type of carvings are on Pumpkins. One day somebody gave him a pumpkin to carve and he made a scary Halloween pumpkin and the next thing he knows kids in his school started giving him pumpkins to carve.

His works look absolutely real and AWESOME. Oh, I wish I can have one! They will surely spook out the kids who comes to my house on Raya only for money. LOL!

There are so many other carvings too. You can visit his website to see more. What do you guys think?

How safe are you?

By now, I'm sure everybody have read or at least heard of the accidents involving a few cars and bus at PLUS Highway 223 or better known as Simpang Ampat.

The number of deaths was 15. Not to mention those in critical condition and also those in trauma over this incident. Now, I am not going to go into details on this matter but I'm just going to ask a question - Why is this happening?

Too often we read about a bus involving in an accident - especially during festive seasons. Too often there are huge amounts of deaths or casualties. Now how can this happen? Is it the driver's negligence? Or is it the responsibility of the management? How about the owner of the bus? Most of the time there might be a problem with the vehicle itself, be it failure of the brakes or worn out tyres or many other mechanical things. Then add that with human error, and you've got fatalities that some other country only get because of war. Although some may not want to admit this, but I find it incredibly stupid to die for no reason - like some roadkill frog - when you could've died for so many other patriotic and memorable ways.

This same goes to deaths of pilots that died on routine training flights because of flying some rusty old Nuri bought some time in the late 60's that has been used, re-used and should be sent to scrap metal shop instead of having someone fly them. OK, I know it's better to just throw out the old and in with the new, but let's say, hypothetically that our Government is very very poor, then why not use some of the money that's still there (There are still some money there right? I mean if you can spend RM400million for 1Malaysia F1 team, don't you at least have another RM1million to spare for emergencies?) for maintenance on the current aircrafts we have now. Instead of tendering ridiculously high priced projects to replace the old aircrafts with new toys that might get rusty without proper care, let's allocate some of those money for the maintenance part that can sustain the aircrafts we have for many more years to come.

I think this behaviour of appreciating what we have and taking care of it through maintenance should start from the bottom of the pyramid right up to the top. In the long run, we can save more money and not forgetting to mention the lives as well as allowing people to keep having jobs for many years. Now, isn't that a win-win situation?

OK, I'm sure some of you know I drive almost everyday (from my rantings in Twitter) and that I go through Federal Highway to go to my destination. Two days ago, I was on the highway as usual, driving on the right lane during heavy traffic when this lorry suddenly zooms next to me. I was so surprised to see the tyre of this lorry. OMG!

Look at the tyre!

Close-up

Isn't that a threat to other road users' safety? What if he loses control of his lorry? What about all the other vehicles on his right and left? Right after I took the picture, someone from two cars ahead of me called out to the lorry driver and was pointing at the lorry's tyre. The Indian dude - the driver - just kept on nodding and drove off. I wonder where he's going though as far as I know, there is no lorry workshop from where we're at or any where towards KL. So he's risking his safety and the safety of others to go to wherever his destination is instead of having the tyres fixed immediately after it exploded.

Now who's to blame?

Lives cannot be bought. Let's not waste it in vain.

Latest version - Twitter and My Own Story

Alright, truth is, I have not blogged for quite a while because I was involved with the MySelangorStory tour and there were no stable internet line during those days I was away. However, I know I can't let this go on for another few days because somebody have started nagging at me about updating and wanting to read latest post from me. OK OK, I'm doing this solely coz of you, you know! LOL.

There are so many things that I want to tell about my experience with MySelangorStory which requires me to do it in six (yup, 6!) different posts - or more, come to think of it - on the fun and fatigue things I did throughout the tour. So, to those who wanted to know what had happened, just hold on a little bit more guys, I need to spice things up a bit so you can feast your curiosity.

Oh yes, did anyone realize that there's a new version of Twitter? I opened my Twitter this morning and I saw this blue headline at the top written : "Pssst.... the new version of Twitter is here." So, I clicked the yellow box "Try It Now" and this is what I get --->

Twitter new version layout

I did not fall in love with it the first time I saw and tried out the options. I encountered a lot of errors but then I suppose you'll come across such problems in a Beta version of an application right? But as time goes by and after getting feedbacks from the users, I'm sure they'll improve version and the options available. Personally, I think the options on the right hand side should be made into a more orderly fashion. Or if the tabs on the top left box is highlighted. All in all, there were not so many changes from the present Twitter interface so I don't have a tough time to work it. I just feel that it needs some more tweaking to allow quicker updates. Still, it doesn't mean something is bad if you don't fall in love with it at first sight, right?

Personally, even in relationships, if I fall in love at first sight with someone, I'll fall out of love just as quickly.

P/S : Oh yes, just a reminder to everybody... Once I've put up posts for my entry on the MySelangorStory - no worries, I'll make sure there's a note to say it's for the contest purposes - I would gladly appreciate votes from all of you and comments too! Hope to get help from all of you out there. Thank you in advance.

Burning the Quran

A few days ago when I first heard on the radio about this Pastor who wants to burn the Quran on 11th September, I was asking myself, is this true? I didn't think that people would take light such matter, even if it was a hoax. Then, things started getting hotter, more news on this Pastor who is said will seriously do the deed and more negative reactions from the people around - not only the Muslims but also the non-Muslims all over the world.

Sure, there are also those who supported the idea, which I suppose are also in the same group of people as this Pastor, and just like what Alyssa Milano tweeted, it's the "CRAZY people" group. LOL! Sad, but I wonder why some people find the need to incite anger with things such as this? As a Muslim myself, I can't just keep quiet on this matter. Ignorance on matter such as this will not bring bliss to your life - well, in this case, mine. I like to know about all the goings-on in this world and when issues like this come up, how am I supposed to be happy for Hari Raya Aidilfitri?

LOVE Alyssa Milano's Tweet! LOL

So many tweets today that the word "Quran", "Koran" and "Burning" is in the Twitter Top 10 Worldwide Trend. Everything is about this issue and it has become a worldwide issue.

If you're just like me, a person who opposes war, racism and fanatics, what is the best way to handle this?

South Korea and it's F1 Circuit

Are you a fan of F1?

Now looks like South Korea also do not want to miss out on the fun of F1 and is preparing their F1 Circuit which is said to be completed around next week to debut it's first race called "Circuit Run 2010" for both cars and motorcycles. One of the racers will be a Red Bull representative, an Indian driver; Mr. Karun Chandhok to warm up with the Three Prix before the circuit will be fully opened for the Grand Prix on 24th October, 2010. The circuit is 90% completed right now and will be used for the first time when South Korea hosts the Grand Prix next month.

This circuit is created by a German architect, Hermann Tilke and is located in Yeongam, South Jeolla. The creation of the circuit is priced at $264 million (250 billion won), a deal between Bernie Ecclestone and the Korean F1 promoter Korea Auto Valley Operation (or KAVO, which is a joint venture between M-Bridge Holdings and Jeollanam). Judging from the shape of the track, this must be quite tough. Although there's a few who were unconvinced that the circuit will be ready by next week, what we can do now is just wait and see.

One of the prominent difference for next week's Korea Super Prix is the introduction of a different engine type which is not the usual V8 that is powered by RB6. One of the sponsors of vehicles in this Grand Prix is the giant company LG - originates from South Korea. LG have confirmed that the old engine is out and they will be using cars running on V10 engine instead. I just hope to see how the South Korea F1 will turn out soon!

P/S : For FCC members and all First Commenter, due to the fact that I had only joined FCC mid August, I did not put up the FC ScoreBoard for the month of August. But starting this month onwards, I will be putting the FCSB to key in your points. The TOP Commenter at the end of each month will get a place at my sidebar for 30 days. So don't be late and sorry.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MALAYSIA!

Congratulations for turning 53 this year! Yeay!

If you're a person, there must be at least a few strands of gray hair on your head, a few wrinkles on your face and maybe you'll be a little slower when you walk.

But you're not a person. You're a country. And for a country, you're still young and vigorous! And because of that you might make a few mistakes along the way, you might decide wrongly due to your "hot blood" and might break a heart or two. But please, do learn from the experiences of others. Do take note that reckless decision-making does not help any country. We should not have to repeat the same mistakes others had to get the same lesson in life. Let's take all the mistakes others had done in their lives as examples to us. In doing so we can put ourselves in the map of the world quicker than what others had in their lifetime. We can become a model, an Idol, a celebrity. Only then, the people in you will prosper more than they have now. Let's do this for our future generation.

Malaysia, you know what I'm saying is true.

Still, HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY everyone! And Happy Holiday!

Don't be an idiot!

How can a 28-year old man be so effin' stupid? And his 25-year old wife can be so witless that she can follow her husband into hiding - that is before they gave themselves up to the police after being advised by police and friends - after their 6-year old son flew 15 meters up in the air, got stuck in a tree with an open skull and his brains lost somewhere in between. Oh my God, what has gotten into the people in this world? I wonder where all the humanity went.

Photo inset : 6-year old Khairul Arif Ayub
Photo courtesy of The Star Online

Haven't the Government and the media been showing all sorts of adverts on the dangers and hazards of illegal fireworks and firecrackers and what-not's? Haven't there been enough mishaps and accidents when it comes to all this illegal fireworks and firecrackers since the government banned all firecrackers - except for the "happy boom" and "pop pop" types - few years ago? So why are there people who are still trying to smuggle and sell these things, and not to mention endanger themselves and the people around them in the process?

And one more thing, if you're really going to do something illegal, why do you have to involve a young child into this business? If you're storing the bloody firecrackers in that allegedly "safe house", then why do you leave your 6-year old son with two young guys who might not be attentive to your son's whereabouts and then go do your errands somewhere else? Why not just bring the boy along? And where the heck is the mother in this picture? I thought mothers are often attached to their little ones. What kind of mother is this woman? I don't even want to write their names. Why should we even want to know this kind of people?

If this is the kind of parents roaming around in this country, then no wonder we have lots of social problems with our young generation. If you don't have a clue how to become parents, don't be one! It's not just about trying to keep yourself from vice and sin, it's about being able to fulfill your responsibilities. If you can't do that, then go water the plant or something.

Gosh, I cannot imagine the boy stuck on top of some tree without his brains. I... My goodness! All this people, what an embarrassment to nature!

What's wrong with our men today?

I know modern day people say that chivalry is dead. But my romantic heart refuse to believe it sometimes. What's wrong with having guys opening the restaurant or car door for a girl? What's wrong with having guys pick up the tab or have him hand over his jacket to you in the cold night? I'm sure there are many independent women out there. I'm an independent woman myself. But being pampered once in a while does not hurt either.

However, this is not what I'm going to explore right now. What I would like to write has nothing to do with guys opening doors for girls.

These past few months, there's like a trend that babies are dumped everywhere in every state.

Then now it's like another trend where husbands turn mad and get violent on their wives and children.

What could be the matter? Has the stress level of men today doubled compared to our fathers? Is there something wrong with the food - too much hormones maybe? Have the bridge we make with our neighbours and friends of the world changed our old values and negatively influenced us into becoming The Hulk? Or could it be, that we just didn't want to state the obvious - all these are signs that we're at the end of the world and we're going to DIE soon!

Less than a week ago the nation was surprised with a news in Terengganu of a man (also a drug addict) who splashed acid on his former wife, daughter and two other family members because his ex-wife wouldn't give him RM30 that he wanted from her. 30 Ringgit! His daughter, an 8-year old was badly scarred and is said might be blind for the rest of her life as a result to his actions.

And then two days ago there was another news about a husband who slashed his wife and her male cousin out of jealousy after seeing her chatting with her cousin at their home. Talk about a rude welcome! There they were, innocently talking and the husband who came home early just went a grabbed a knife in the kitchen and start slashing his wife's face, hands and body. And when he saw his wife was trying to shield her cousin from harm, he went and slashed the man too before leaving the house and the two people lying in their pool of blood.

What could've been in his mind then? I mean, even if what he imagined was true, if maybe his wife was cheating on him, why the need to resort to violence? Why not just divorce the woman and not leave her a cent! Isn't that type of revenge better than having yourself being locked up in jail instead?

Last night I was chatting with one of my best friends and we were talking about the social issues going on in this world when I said something like, "I'm sure some crazy news is going to come out in the papers tomorrow."

Turns out I was right. At the front page of a Malay paper today is a news of a husband who, after being in a quarrel with his wife, got so enraged when she increased the TV volume that he started kicking his 6-month pregnant wife and then stepping on her belly many times as she lay on the floor. Then when he's done, he can just walk out of the house and leave her in pain where she had to endure it by herself and ask help from neighbours to get to the hospital.

I wonder how these men could treat their wives in this animal-like way? These women are the people they claimed they love enough to offer marriage to and then they can just kick, beat and burn them? How can these men live with themselves? Acting like a brute will not make a man anything else but a brute. What is wrong with these people? Have women been trying to call for equality for so long that men forget we are still the weaker sex? Have the wires in the brains of today's men gone awry or something? Is it just chivalry that's dead or respect altogether?

It's scary and sad too. All these things and experiences I see other people go through sometimes make me fear to even think of "marriage". *Sigh*

Harsher charges should be implied

Baby dumping is an issue that is at its height right now in Malaysia. Hardly a week will go by when another news of a newborn baby being found dead or alive is splashed across the newspaper. I don't blog about all the baby dumping stories that I read about but from some of my posts, you can see how these issues need to be handled more seriously and the people involved should be given a harsher sentence.

These past few days I read in the news that Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, the Women, Family and Community Development Minister have submitted a recommendation to the Cabinet to qualify some baby dumping cases as murder and that those who are involved shall be charged under the Section 302 of the Penal Code as "murder" or "attempted murder". Although a non-profit organisation have helped set up the country's first ever baby hatch for mothers to anonymously leave their unwanted babies for adoption, baby dumping cases still increase. Is it because these mothers (and not to forget the fathers) are ignorant of the existence of such place or they just wanted the easy way out? Or are they just heartless to begin with? And are these babies only those conceived out of wedlock?

Can you stomach this image??

You see, I had some friends who had got pregnant before they're married. It happened right after SPM. There were quite a handful - both my Chinese and Malay friends. From what I saw, the family members of my Chinese friends reacted less violently compared to the family members of my Malay friends. Of course, both the Chinese and Malays are angry, I mean, no matter what race you are, having a teenage daughter who just finished high school and who have so many positive possibilities in the future shatter just because she's pregnant is not a very pretty scenario.

So what happened to them?

  1. One of my Chinese friend marry the father of the baby. He was responsible of his actions enough that he was there with her to inform her family about the child and he informed them he is going to make everything right by marrying her.
  2. The other Chinese friend kept the baby but she didn't marry the baby daddy because she knows he couldn't provide for her or her child. Her parents raised the baby along with her.
  3. One of my Malay friend was forced to marry the father of the baby even though they know the boy was jobless, had no proper education and could not provide for her and her child. The family was ashamed by what the relatives and neighbours are saying and now that friend of mine is with three children, working her ass off with two jobs, her father is paying for the house rental and the baby's food while her husband does not work and stay at home.
  4. The other Malay friend of mine was chased away the day she told her parents she was pregnant, she went to a Rumah Bakti for pregnant unwed mothers until the baby was born and she gave it away.

Now, what is the conclusion above? Why are there so many baby dumps in this country? Although the papers don't tell what race the babies are but from cases where they caught the mothers, why are the majority Malays?

I just point out the race here, I don't even want to start about the religion. I mean, nowadays you can't say that a Malay is automatically a Muslim because if they are, then their actions such as the topic I am talking about is an abomination to the religion itself. Islam does not say that when your child made a mistake, you should punish them so severely that resulted in an innocent life dead somewhere in a garbage bin or in the river. If that happens, then your act of banishing them from your home had somehow caused the lost of that innocent life and you're also involve in that baby's death. Can we blame everybody?

Now, should the "murder" and "attempted murder" charge solely be on the parents of the baby or also to everyone who contributed to the matter?

Whatever the outcome, one thing's for sure, this "trend" has got to stop. If we have to work a little extra by doing DNA tests and others in order to get more concrete proof on the offenders, then let's do it fast. I don't think many of us can stomach more images similar to the above anymore.
