Beautiful Sunset at Sepang Gold Coast

It was my first time to be at Sepang Gold Coast last Saturday. In truth, I'm not much of a traveler and would rather spend my free time lazing on my couch or sleep longer than I usually do. So, even though Sepang Gold Coast is only about 60+km from my house in Kajang - which is approximately an hour's drive - I had never been to this place before. I blame it on the genes. My father's a very homey person.

Anyways, having been invited to Golden Palm Tree Resort & Spa for the Tourism Selangor and Selangorlicious Blog & Roll event, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go there, even if just for a few hours. Tourism Selangor and Selangorlicious was having the Beach Food Carnival celebration and of course I wouldn't say no to a variety of food served in abundance! Since that one (eating experience) requires a much longer post, I'll write one dedicated post entirely for that event.

So before stuffing our faces (invited guests) with countless amount of food, there was a sunset photography competition going on. Now how can I not enter the competition when I have been calling myself a contest junkie? So there I was, lugging my loaned camera to snap snap snap away!

Isn't the sunset beautiful? I couldn't help but be captivated by the beautiful sunset and its reflection on the water. There's always this emotion that's been brought forth from within me when I am close to the sea or the ocean breeze hitting my face. Maybe it's the smell of the ocean or just the sound of water in the big open sea, it's hard for me to describe. I hope that you guys had at least experienced it once in your lifetime.

Oh, I didn't win the competition, sadly. I wished I had better technique in capturing the sunsets. Maybe when I get my own DSLR, I can practice and hone my skills to make the photos look better. Yup, not too long until I get my own DSLR now. *excited*

How about you guys? Have you guys been to Sepang Gold Coast?

By car :

  • Get off the elite at the KLIA extention highway toll – head towards LCCT – when you see a large mosque with blue dome on the left side of the road, turn left to continue on to the Sepang F1 Circuit / LCCT.
  • You will approach a large roundabout - take the exit at 12 o’clock - keep going straight all the way and as you are reaching the circuit, you will see a sign on your left that says sepang Gold Coast - keep to your left and filter left before the traffic lights .
  • You now have the Sepang F1 Circuit on your right hand side keep going straight until you reach a + junction with a set of traffic lights. (Big sign on the hill says Ensteck) - Turn right at the lights and head towards Sepang town .
  • After turning right, you will be on the B48 -ba much smaller road with village housing on the right – keep going another 10kms to Sepang town itself . At shell station turn Right at the traffic lights to Sg Pelek town 6kms away.
  • Pass 1st set of lights and keeping right - go pass another set of lights for another 3 kms until you see a sign for Sepang Gold Coast on the left.
  • Turn Right and drive for 4 kms to the beach.

By bus :
  • Transnasional has a bus service from Kuala Lumpur's Puduraya bus terminal to Salak Tinggi, Sepang and Sungai Pelek. Transnasional also operates local buses from Sepang and Sungai Pelek to Tanjung Sepat and Banting in neighbouring Kuala Langat district. This journey passes through miles of palm oil plantations and several pretty Malay coastal villages.
  • Sepang Omnibus has direct local buses from Seremban in Negeri Sembilan to Sungai Pelek via Nilai, KLIA, Salak Tinggi and Sepang; and Seremban to Banting via Nilai, KLIA, Salak Tinggi and Bukit Changgang. It also runs a bus from Sungai Pelek to Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan via Sepang. Towards the north, Sepang Omnibus operates buses from Sungai Pelek to Tanjung Sepat in neighbouring Kuala Langat district.

However, if you're not sure of the road, try to use google map or your GPS. Have fun at the Water Festival folks!

The Beginning of a 6 Days Tour - Day 1

    Woohoo~ Day 1, here I come!

    Map Of Selangor.

OK. The beginning of the journey started at 3.40pm for me. Everyone was supposed to arrive at 3pm, but having to attend class at the last minute that ended at 2.20pm and then go home to pick up my stuffs, and not to mention the rain that poured monkeys and elephants throughout the drive to the meeting point, it took a while for me and my parents to arrive at Skypark Terminal, Subang.

    Skypark Subang, Information Counter.

The minute we arrived, Amelia (our "Mommy" for the tour) found me in front of Starbucks and I went in to join everybody else at Kapitan Kopitiam where everyone was gathered. There were food and drinks for everyone but I was too nervous and tired to grab a bite. I had managed to sleep only 2-3 hours the past few nights because of my assignments which I had to pass up before I join the tour. My professors were willing to let me off (including the next Monday and Tuesday) provided I pass all assignments and take quizzes before the rest of the class. Oh yes, very "helpful" of them. So, it seemed that at the starting point of the My Selangor Story tour, my battery has depleted to 50%.

After 10 minutes arriving in Kapitan Kopitiam and introducing myself to some of the other bloggers, Raja Sa'adi, the Head and PR & Marketing for Firefly stood up to give us a welcoming speech as well as giving us some input on Firefly's services.

    Come fly with Firefly!

Now, did I mention that this My Selangor Story tour brings bloggers from three countries together - which are Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia? And who flies in the bloggers from outside Kuala Lumpur? Firefly of course! They also happen to be the Official Airline for this competition. A little sad I am staying in Selangor, if not I would be able to try their services and inform you guys how it's like myself.

    MSS Daddy - Encik Faizal

Right after that, and a whole lot of photo-taking sessions (what you expect? LOL!), we were brought to our tour bus to go to our first destination - Carlton Holiday Hotel & Suites to check in and freshen up. We were paired up in buddy system and Jacquelyn was my room mate. Right after freshening up, we headed down the hall where we were all introduced to Mdm Rissa Chan, Executive Director of DSC World Sdn Bhd. DSC World Sdn Bhd is the company for Pentax cameras which is also the Official Camera used in this competition.

    Pick your cameras kids!

Testing out my camera - Pentax Optio P80

After going through our cameras like jakuns (LOL!), we were then introduced to our Tourism Selangor's caretakers. After a lot more photo-taking sessions (oh yes, you are going to be shocked with all the photo binging in this competition), we got our itenerary and found out that we'll be going to the City of Digital Lights! The last time I went there was on my birthday in August but going here again will be so much fun. I am crazy for colorful lights. I used to LOVE going to Orchard Road, Singapore just because of the lights. Colorful lights turns me into a happy cheery 6-year old.

Right after hopping off the bus at i-City, we were brought over to EVENTS, where Mr. Eu Hong Chew, the CEO of i-City briefed us on the history, objectives and summary of the City of Digital Lights.

EVENTS & Mr. Eu Hong Chew

And then, it's EATING time! What better way to welcome us into this tour than a wide range of steamboat dish? Oh anybody but anybody who knows me knows I love Steamboat. Plus, we were served in the MIDDLE, surrounded by colorful lights. How can I NOT love this tour? And when other visitors walking by looking at our tables with a why-do-these-people-get-to-eat-here look, it is absolutely priceless. LOL!

     FOOD!! Yums!

While eating, I suddenly realize this beautiful moon up in the sky in between the beautiful lighted trees. What a night. Just the right weather and temperature.

    Romantic, isn't it?

Right after eating, it's photo-taking time (again!). I've warned you, this tour is FILLED with photo-taking. I tagged along with Eyriqazz, Zaid and makcik Zara and explored the 4.5-acre park that is filled with state-of-the-art light display and sculptures. The lightscape in i-City features Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Christmas themes. Not to mention, by the end of this year (possibly 25th December), more lights display and three more giant screens will be installed to accommodate the increasing number of visitors to i-City.

About two hours eating and photographing i-City, we hopped on the bus again to our next destination - Uptown Shah Alam.

Honestly, I've never been here. The only Uptown I frequented was Damansara Uptown back when it was super hype few years ago. Plus, I was staying in PJ at the time. Uptown Shah Alam is just a little further from my house.

    Operation time : 8pm - 3am

We had a warm welcome by En. Aizul Hisham, the Managing Director of Dataran Usahawan Selangor Sdn Bhd (and his little girl) where he shared his recipe to being successful in business. We had some sandwich and cold drinks before we start walking around the bazaar. The types of shops here :

    1. Clothes for men and women.
    2. Accessories for men and women (i.e. shades, hats, necklaces, bracelets, etc).
    3. Collector's items (i.e. coins, dollars, party items, old firearms, antiques, etc).
    4. Food and beverages.
    5. Animals of all kinds and races (They have imported animals too).
    6. Property booths and car purchases booths.
And the best attraction of all at Uptown Shah Alam? None other than ----> Karaoke Session!

    Azuan in ACTION!

Right after all the excitement (and my brain shutdown half hour before that), we were on our way back to the hotel. Our MSS Mommy handed us our P1 Wiggy, where P1 is our Official Broadband Provider. But I don't know why it can't connect to my laptop. After so many tries, I just took a quick hot shower and got ready for bed. By the time I settled in, it was nearly 2am. All I was thinking is that I just need to "reboot" my brain before I crash and hang. LOL. Nites all!

Day 1 is on 23rd of September, 2010.

P/S : This post is in conjunction with My Selangor Story contest - Day 1. Please vote for me here. Please do it daily. Thanks all!
