Pet World Malaysia 2011

Went to this year's Pet World held once again at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre. Did you know that this year is the 4th Malaysian International Pets & Aquatics Exhibition? Well, now you know. The exhibition is from 3rd - 5th June from 10am - 9pm. My family chose the last day to visit this exhibition - it's just our way, we always do things last minute.

By the time we arrived, it was already 3.30pm. The entrance fee for adult is RM5 and children is RM3. The Main Stage was alive with Product Introduction, Dog Lover Of The Year Award 2011 and some contests. The speaker was speaking in Chinese so I only understood a little here and there. We first entered Hall 1, which was a little packed with people before heading to Hall 2 and Hall 3. We didn't buy anything from Hall 1, only saw many types of dogs and this one particular obedient dog is just so cute and it's fur is so thick and fluffy!

When we got to Hall 2, Dad was interested in Kitty's Crumble, an organic pet litter made from uniquely processed grains of coconut husk that has unbeatable natural odour elimination, super absorbency and small carbon paw print. What's better is that you can recycle it as your fertilizer after use. There was a promo so we bought the RM75 pack and got the RM 25 pack for free. Now we just have to try it with our kitties. If they like it, then we'd prefer to change to this rather than using the normal cat litter. We bought this from the Progenesis Group booth.

Oh, Kitty's Crumble is not for Kitty only. It's suitable for a variety of pets - gecko, snakes, spiders, hamsters, rabbits, tortoises and birds too!

Cats at Cat Show

After playing with some puppies at the Petsmore booth, we made our way again to Hall 3 and this time we were greeted by cats in cages for The 4th Pet World Malaysia Cat Beauty Competition. Most of the cats were sleeping then, since the competition started at 10am and I saw some cats was starting to behave erratically, an indication that they're stressed out, probably because of the noisy hall and crowd.

In the same hall, we came across H.O.P.E. H.O.P.E. is the abbreviation to Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist. It is a non-profit, no kill shelter that rescues dogs and cats regardless of breed or age. When I saw the photos of the dogs, as usual it tugged a string at my heart. OK, maybe more than just a string. My feelings were further enhanced when the dogs I saw in the photos were actually there at the booth, brought all the way so that the visitors can see for themselves that these dogs exists and they are indeed in need of help.

Below I show photos of the dogs at the booth. Below is a photo of Kenko and Fortune. Kenko is a victim of a hit and run while Fortune is believed to be a victim of abuse. When I took this picture, Kenko was resting while Fortune was asleep.

New Bundles of Joy!

Dear friends, 

Truthfully, I have been keeping this happy news to myself for a while now. However, I cannot keep this any longer and it is bursting out of me to share my happy news! You see, my first bundles of joy arrived on the 20th of April. This is the first time I ever am a parent so this whole thing was a huge deal to me. So come on, I want to share everything about my family with ALL of you.

This is my first wife... Her name's Tammy.

I have known Tammy since I was very very young. Dad and Mom rescued her and since then we were inseparable. I actually lost my *cough* virginity *cough* to her. LOL! I have two boys and one girl with my wife Tammy. They're three beautiful sweethearts, don't you agree?

Girl : Inanna.     Boys : Enki, Enlilah.

But then, my Mom and Dad hooked me up with another lady too. Although I am a little embarrassed to confess to this, but I am practicing polygamy. However, be rest assured that I love both my wives equally and truly. So, this is my second wife whom had recently bore me two beautiful kitties on 9th of May.

Let me introduce you to my second wife - Onyx.

Onyx is older than me. But I have no problem with the whole "cougar" thing. Come to think of it, I find it attractive that older females are attracted to me. *Cough* I can be quite a charm sometimes you know. Onyx is one of Dad's favourite meows and I am honored to be her husband. Onyx has some other kids before so I am also a stepfather to quite a few meows now too!

But first of all, let me introduce you to my two darlings with Onyx. I fathered one boy and one girl with Onyx. Isn't that wonderful?

You know, being a parent is not an easy task. But before that, giving birth is not an easy task either! I was with Tammy when she delivered our babies. I was shocked at first! I couldn't understand why she kept shifting in the room and looked so antsy. At first we both thought she was having a normal stomachache. I say this because Tammy said she never had stomach pains like that before and I judged from her face that this could be some sort of diarrhea. I count my lucky starts that Dad and Mom checked in on us before they went to sleep and noticed Tammy's weird behaviour. They understood at once that she was about to give birth. Dad and Mom was with Tammy all the way while I was peeking from behind their shoulders. I couldn't help myself, I was so excited that I was going to be a Dad! I couldn't contain the adrenalin pumping in me that I had to sit in my water bowl just to cool down.

I respect how Tammy and Onyx endured the pain of birthing and how they took good care of our children. I vowed from the day that I saw my kids that I will always love and respect females all around the world, including my human family!

I couldn't wait to see my children grow up. I know they will be amazing and they will always have my love. My kids with Tammy have opened their eyes and I feel like I can swim in those dark blue colors. No matter what they do or if they have any shortcomings, I will never regret having them. Dad and Mom wouldn't let me mix with them so much because they're afraid my kids might get "infected" with my wild ways. I am, in fact not a domestic cat. I agree with Dad and Mom on this. Even though I love my kids with all my heart, but sometimes as a parent, we have to make sacrifices in order to provide a better life and future for our children. I've decided that I do not want them to be a "wild cat" like me and that they should be more exposed to their domestic counterpart. So, I leave it to my wives to teach them how to be good and sweet, not only to our kind but also to our human family. In the mean time, I shall always think of them and send my love to them from afar.

Before I end this, I hope that all of you can share the excitement in my heart and will be happy for me and my wives at the arrival of our new bundles of joy. Love you dear friends!

Hachiko, Fifi, Cloud

I haven't blogged about my cats for a while now right? So today, I would like to introduce all of you to my three watermelon kitties (that's what I call my Bengals actually), LOL! There are two females and one male. Now, which do you think is the male and female?

These three are very cute and adorable. They are the litters of N.G. (Queen) and Ralphy (Tom). However, Hachi is the one most likely to bite when she's in a playful mood. I'll always have to warn her, "no biting", in a stern voice before she would stop biting and start licking my finger. Fifi is the smallest in the bunch. Her body is slim even though she eats a lot and she is also the sweetest. Cloud is just beautiful. I absolutely love his eyes. He look like a girl with those eyeliners. LOL!

We already have quite a lot of Bengal cats at home. I think we have about 12 Bengals already, not to mention the ones we gave away. I was just a little disappointed though that these three are the only descendants of Ralphy. I don't know why my mom had to neuter Ralphy and Ryan so soon. Ralphy and Ryan were good boys in comparison to our other male cats. Maybe my mom just can't stand having them climbing the house roof when they were in heat. Luckily one of their offspring (Hachiko) looked a little like them. If not, I would be much more disappointed.

Right now, I am so into Himalayan/Persian breed. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have at least one that looked like below. What do you think? Aren't they gorgeous?

R.I.P. Arya

Early this morning, some time after midnight, our beautiful female ALC has crossed the rainbow bridge. Her cause of death is severe dehydration and also water in the lungs. We were unable to detect it early because she was still up and about until the last minute. Due to some issues, we overlooked her condition and probably relied a little too much on our maid - who was supposed to only care for Arya (and only the cats in our house) - to inform us if there are any signs of weird behaviour in any of our cats. Sadly, it was a wrong decision on our part. I guess it is true what they say, "If you want things to be done right, you have got to do it yourself". My dad is most affected by this because he is the one who really love ALCs.

"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy." 

We love you Arya. We hope you're at a place with no pain, full of love and surrounded by friends of all kitty ages and sizes. Thank you for being a part of our family.

Our Cats

I guess if you've read my past blog posts you'll know that my family and I have more than a dozen cats. In fact, we have about 35 cats (and counting!). My parents are cat lovers, since a very very long time ago. They like to rescue cats, buy expensive breed of cats and also look for some hard-to-find breed of cats. In short, they're cat-crazed. LOL!

But their love of cats and other animals made me and my brothers learn to appreciate living things in this world. We love animals too. Our family don't limit to loving cats only, we love every other types of animals too. Which is why, animal abuse is something we totally oppose. Please, love the animals, because they are living things too.

Today, I would like to feature my Bengal kitties. There are about 10 of them actually but these are my two lovely boys who are totally adorable.

Actually they are two different cats. But they have quite the same designs and coat colour. The only slight difference is one have a darker shade coat than the other. You've got to look very carefully to know which is which. LOL! They're two very quiet and super friendly cats. And they love to sit spread eagle like this :

The kitties in this shed are real fatsos. They don't do anything much except eat and run around the shed all day. Yup, this shed is as big as a single room in KL. LOL! My parents have a lot of land for these kitties.

There are also two spacious cages in this place for them to be isolated if they have any skin or health problems or for more privacy during a wooing session. LOL! One cage is about 5 feet long and 3 feet wide. My dad wants them to feel all the privacy in the world. Plus, the photo above is only one of the three sheds at my parents' new place. So you can imagine how many cats we have. (Take out your calculator now.. )

We have quite a lot of Bengals with dark patterns like Falco. He had another three siblings of which are all big boned and sturdy. He's very heavy too, and he loves to be held and tickled under the chin.

Before I leave, look at my king. Don't you think he looks adorable with that lion-looking mane? Both my boys have that and it's actually fluffier than what it looks like in the photos! And do you notice he's smiling into the camera? LOL!

My feelings are everywhere

I don't know what I should feel today actually. Yes, I have finally received the cheque which I won in the F&N Drink Drink Win Win Contest. It had been a fabulous news when I got it two weeks ago. However, receiving it today does not mean much to me. Why?

1. Because once the cheque is cleared in my account, 70% of it will go to my brother. Yup, I owed him. It doesn't matter. I don't like to owe anyone. Whenever I can pay, I will do it ASAP.
2. One of our cats died today - Baby. My brother found him in the morning, dead at the front door.

My dad said it must be poisoning but my brother said it couldn't be because there were lots of blood coming out of his mouth. Although he was already dead for maybe an hour or two when my brother found him, the blood was not dried yet. If he was poisoned, he should be regurgitating some sort of fluid or vomiting but not blood. So my brother conclude that he probably was hit somewhere and he still came home or someone must've hit him in the face or something. I couldn't look at him. I just cry when my brother told me he died. 

Baby is almost 4 years old. He was a stray kitten when my parents found him - all the way from Bukit Merah Laketown, Perak. He had this short pig-tail and ginger fur. He's a very sweet cat, sometimes he might get on our nerves because he likes to lean on our legs even when we're walking and we would nearly trip because of him but most of the time he's just obedient. And he took out a lot of rats too.

I don't know what to say. I feel so sad and down. Only yesterday he was doing his regular trying-to-trip-Bella routine when I went to the kitchen to get some food and today, he's gone. I am sad especially knowing that in his pain, probably some time after dawn, he still made it back to his home. We buried him in front of our house, even though some people said it's not good to bury dead animals near your house compound - I do not know why. 

Baby, you will always be remembered. We LOVE you.

More kitties in da house!

If it weren't for the fact that our house have a lot of land, I think we'll be bursting with cats at every corner by now. The other day I helped a momma cat deliver her litters at 1 o'clock in the morning when it was raining outside. She could've picked a better time. LOL! Plus since my room is closer to the shed and I heard the mewing, I can't just close my ears with cottons. It was a tiring night.

Then two days ago, another Queen of ours also delivered her kitties. SIX of them! We didn't even know how she got pregnant! I think it's my boys' work again. LOL! Coz they're the only boys not neutered - yet.

"Argh! I've got things at my titties!"

Well everybody, this is N.G. I don't know what those initials stand for. She had been called N.G. since she's a baby. LOL! My mom sometimes have no idea what to name them. I don't know how she can have 6 babies but she did. One of them is slightly underweight and undersized so we had to separate him/her (we don't know the sex yet) from the other kitties. 

There was a moment of suspense though when N.G. delivered the last kitty, she didn't push hard enough or wasn't strong enough to finish eating the placenta that it went back in. That's when she just can't stop mewing in pain and discomfort. She kept turning right and left. We had to bring her to the vet where she was jabbed in order to liquefy the placenta. Now she looks much happier!

For those who have pets and Queens that will be delivering soon, make sure you're around when she gives birth. Things like this can happen and it's dangerous to the Queen's womb and health.

Little baby boy is sick..

It looks like our little "brother" has fallen sick. We don't know what happened but he had been quiet since yesterday and lost his appetite. He also did not poo solid. We fear that there's something wrong with the food he ate or maybe he picked up something from the floor like the last time and fell sick because of it. This boy is a very cheeky one who just can't sit still. He loves to explore and taste everything he can get his paws into. We had to bring him to the vet and hopefully he'll get better soon.

We are so worried.

The last time he picked up something from the floor, he got into really bad spasms and vomiting. The vet suspected he licked or ate something that's aerosol poisoned. So be careful when you try to get that mosquitoes away by spraying that aerosol and risk having your little friend accidentally lick where you sprayed.

Another set of Bengal Kitties

On the 13th of June, another set of Bengal kitties came out to see the world and become my instant little brothers and sister. They are the little ones of my boys (and yes, BOTH my boys) with mom's Queen. LOL! Both my boys kinda lost their virginity on her. LOL! And see, she got three to prove their manhood. LOL!

But look, aren't they just adorable? I know I always say that about cats but come on, looking at them sleep like that, sometimes I wonder how some people can be Cruella deVillle and torture these animals? I saw this video of some woman who steps on little kittens and pups with her high heeled shoe and crush their skulls on the pavement with her heels and I wonder why don't somebody use some sharp heeled heavy platform shoe and beat the crap out of her? OK, just thinking about her in that video is starting to make me angry.

Oh yes, MidValley Megamall just had the Pet World exhibition from 25-27 June but I didn't go this year. However, I know those who did must've also seen kittens such as mine for sale at very high prices right? If I recalled, last year they're selling one Bengal kitten of 3 months old between RM2k - RM2.5k. Say, if I want to sell my Bengal cats at my home for that price per cat, I think I can make almost RM30k at one go. Yup, I have more than a dozen Bengal cats. 

But, I love them all. And they're not for sale. Because I am a Muslim and it's Haram to "eat" money from selling pets. FYI, not many people knows that actually. 

I think I want to marry my boys with a Maine Coon and see how it will later turn out. Then I'll have them all huddled in my bedroom and keep the spooky night visits at bay!

Isn't he a beautiful little thing? Don't mind the innocent face, he's got teeth you won't want to mess with. He's only about 3 months old but his teeth are sharp. Yup, we should have called him "Shark" instead of "Ice". Dad thought calling him "Ice" might make his personality cool down a little. As if there's such things as personality for his kind, or such things as being COOL..
