Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are parents!

Oh yeah.

Pregnant Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom, 34 and Miranda Kerr, 28 got married last year, some time in July. Miranda announced her pregnancy in August and now the bundle of joy has arrived. The beautiful baby boy, born on 6th of January 2011 and weighed 9 lb 12 ounces was named Flynn. Miranda posted her first photo with baby Flynn breastfeeding on her blog and the photos are now circulating the web.

Miranda Kerr and Baby Flynn

Miranda wrote on her blog that she gave birth to Flynn naturally without the help of drugs or painkillers. She was glad that Orlando was helping and guiding her throughout the long, arduous and difficult labour. Looks like all is great in the Kerr-Bloom company.

However, the photo of Miranda breastfeeding have resulted to mixed feelings from the public. There were many who applauded her for putting up the photo as an encouragement to mothers (especially new mothers) to be more open to public breastfeeding and further help the development of their babies. But there were also negative comments left that ranged from mild to downright mean.

Personally, I have no problem with public breastfeeding. I am not sure I would be doing it someday but I don't feel gross when I see someone does it because I know they're doing it for the benefit of their baby. They're not purposefully flashing their boobs at you, you know. Babies who breastfeed are healthier and have lower risk to diarrhea, vomiting, allergies and others. I wonder why these people are leaving such mean comments. Sigh.. Maybe they're just jealous she's looking all rosy after just giving birth the past few weeks.

Movie Review - Faster

Actually, I watched this movie more than a week ago but didn't have the right mood to review it. It was a premiere screening and I got a seat quite close to the screen - thanks to arriving at the cinema a little late.

Note to self : Make sure to come before stipulated time for best seats or risk going home with a cramp neck.

FASTER

As the title suggests, this movie shows how fast Driver (Dwayne Johnson) - after being released from 10 years of incarceration - tracked down his brother's killers from a botched bank robbery which also led to his imprisonment. However, it's definitely not going to be an easy breezy job for Driver or it won't be a very exciting movie. So, thrown into the picture to make his life harder is a Cop (Billy Bob Thornton) and a Killer (Oliver Jackson-Cohen).

 Driver

Cop
Killer (and his half-naked girlfriend)

Personally, I think the Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan is much more entertaining than the whole movie. What's a Ruger? It's the gun that's in Driver's hand. I like movies that show the guys kill in one clean shot. No need to talk much, just shoot and get it over with. Things sure work easier like that in real life. You want to kill someone, you kill someone. You don't scream or yell or torture the person with endless yapping.

After that, there's the Killer - a super smart and sleek looking dude who's also egocentric and probably slightly wrong in the head. Awesome. It doesn't matter that I hardly know who this dude was. I just love the setting he's in. The huge glass-paned house that I have always loved and imagine to have some day (oh I've got big dreams), killer cars that make me drool and a gorgeous girlfriend who knew what he's doing and is still there with him. Don't matter that he didn't get the chance to showcase ALL those beautiful weapons in his garage. They're just his trophies. Pretty much like his girl.

Other than the story line being vague and not connected to the audience much, I also did not like the flashbacks of what was the real reason to all this chase. You see, I've had a bit of an idea already  who was the snitch when the cameras zoomed in at the photo on the mantel at Driver's mom's home. There was a photo of three guys and three girls so there's no doubt that one of the girls is the one (since the guys are all dead). But having them linger in that fact for another half part of the movie was making the storyline quite stale.

Finally, they had to give Driver a conscience - which made him hesitant and finally decided not to kill the pastor whom years before that was one of the four who was involved in his brother's murder. OK, I'm not saying that's wrong. I'm sure some people DO need that sort of conscience instead of running amok and killing like nobody's business. So yeah, that was a good decision, Driver. I applaud that.

Although I'm not a fan of this movie, I would still recommend a popcorn session at home, sitting or lying down on your most comfortable sofa and imagine yourself being in that great car or that girl (whichever you prefer). I doubt however that this movie will be one of the best Action Movie of 2011. No harm in checking it out though, right? Have a Happy Movie Session!

Movie Rating : 6.5/10

MATTA International Fair Selangor Umrah & Muslim Travel 2011

Had been at the fair and working as part of the live tweeting group for the past two days. The event started on Friday, 14th Jan 2011 until Sunday, 16th Jan 2011 from 10am to 9pm. It was at Shah Alam Convention Center and though it was pretty further from where I live, I like being involved. Although I don't usually sacrifice my weekends, but this one I made an exception. LOL..

Some other photos of MASUM I tweeted here.

This fair, called MASUM in short, showcases quite a lot of travel packages for both Muslims and Non-Muslims. Although the title itself says that it is for Umrah & Muslim Travel, it does not mean it is purposefully for Muslim travelers only. What it meant with Muslim Travel is that the location, lodging, food and other necessities provided where the tour goes to are within the scope approved for Muslims. So this means, travelers that purchases the holiday package offered here do not have to worry about looking for Halal food or others because everything is within the line of the Islamic law.

So, no worries while enjoy yourself to the max during your trip!

Not only the prices of the tour packages offered by the exhibitionists are affordable and competitive, there was also a few competition going on for visitors throughout the day.

The competitions were:
  1. Colouring contests for children aged 5-7
  2. Chanting Batik for those aged 8-12 and 12-15
  3. Quizzes for the adults
  4. Buyer's Contest
The Buyer's Contest are only for visitors who purchased from the exhibitionists. This contest is the easiest because visitor's eligibility is at as low as RM200 minimum purchase. Imagine if you purchase a tour package worth RM5000? You've already gotten yourself 24 entries, just like that! The lucky winners will win two free tickets to London, Paris and Frankfurt!

So there I was, in the morning slot (10am-3.30pm), tweeting about #MASUM since yesterday. I'm sorry if I flooded your timeline. Won't make that a habit, I promise. Here are some of the things we tweeted about.

#MASUM

I wasn't tweeting this matter by myself. If you have seen this word #MASUM in twitter, you will notice that there were 6 of us in total tweeting on the topic, not to mention Tourism Selangor and Selangor Events helping us out too (or more like Dian doing the three-man job all by herself). Kudos to everyone involved! Kudos to Tourism Selangor too for this first time approach. Social media is quite a force to be reckoned with.

Some of the showcased items at Perbadanan Adat Melayu dan Warisan
Negeri Selangor (PADAT) booth outside MASUM Hall.

In case you missed this year's MASUM, there'll be another in January 2012. So don't miss out on the chance to get the best traveling deals! Hope to see you guys at MASUM 2012!

What? I'm not a Virgo?

The 12 Signs of the Zodiac

If you have read the news lately, it seems the Zodiac that we believe we were is no longer true. I am a Virgo - or was - according to the astronomers. Since the astronomers from Minnesota Planetarium Society decided that the alignment of the stars are pushed by another month due to the moon's gravitational pull on Earth, then this would also mean that I am no longer a Virgo. The horoscope readers are going to have a field day, I'm sure.

I have the whole personality of a Virgo. So who am I to believe?

How about you? Is your Zodiac sign the same or has it changed? Well according to those brilliant fellas at the Minnesota Planetarium Society, these are the new Zodiac signs :
Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17.
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.

Although astrology had changed a few times before like the Ancient Babylonians who threw out the Ophiuchus (the snake sign) so that they have 12 signs instead of 13 and having the Libra sign in the group during Julius Caeser's era, personally, I think we've used the 12 Zodiac signs for far too long to change them now.  Plus, I feel that the description of my Zodiac sign is true to my personality compared to me being a Leo. *raise eyebrows*

Oh well, I think at the end of the day, this whole Zodiac thing is a load of bull anyways. LOL!

I love Johnny Depp!

Right. This is my confession. Hopefully B-bunz skip this post or I wouldn't hear the end of this. LOL!

Schuweet!

I want to see the movie The Tourist - just coz Johnny is in it! I know he looked a little chubbier than in the Pirates sequels but so what? And I don't even care that the reviews on this movie sucked. Johnny Depp is awesome! I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. The only thing is, I'm not going to see him at the cinema. Maybe I'll put on my hat, eye patch and become a "pirate" for one day and watch this movie on my PC instead. Oops!

The Tourist Interview with Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp and Paul Bettany

I don't mind that Angelina Jolie is acting opposite Johnny Depp in this movie. I think she's gorgeous. I think Johnny met his match in Angelina. I find the accusations online on how Angelina is a "man-stealer" and that Johnny shouldn't act alongside her is quite tasteless. Seriously, if he wants it, he'll want it. If not, then he's a good man. Have a little faith in Johnny please..

And one more movie I am anticipating this 2011 is none other than the FOURTH installment of Pirates Of The Caribbean. This movie is titled Pirates Of The Caribbean : On Stranger Tides. I can't wait to see Captain Jack Sparrow and his rum-ridden antics! I'm not so sure if Penelope Cruz can replace Kiera Knightley's adventurous character but hopefully having an "ex girlfriend" on board would bring funnier and cuter behaviours out of Jack.

Can't wait for May 2011!

Check this Teaser out!

What's your most anticipated movie of 2011? I think I'm gonna write a post on just this very very soon!

Movie Review - Season Of The Witch

Went out with B-bunz and my brother to The Gardens, MidValley to catch this movie. I bought the tickets online using my Maybank2u for Premiere Cinema at GSC Signatures, Gardens. The price of three tickets for adults (including surcharge) is RM 70.50. What is it that I like about GSC Signatures compared to GSC Cinema? The seats. Me loves!

Witches, the history of witch burning and the Vatican's intervention on disposing them had always been an intriguing subject to me. I love reading books on this matter and I always feel strongly on the arguments that the Church gave to murder the alleged witches. I understand that these are things that happened centuries ago whence the beliefs and life back then were different from present day. So how can I argue with that? As far as I am concerned though, if tortures like this arise today, we will fight for proper justice. At least, I know I will.

However, when I saw that there's a twist to this story, that the movie's actually about a demon instead of a real witch, my anticipation went into the drain. I don't know why they had to make it about a demon. I don't like demonic twist stories. To me, having demons in movies like The Exorcist or The Exorcism of Emily Rose are fine because those movies are based entirely on demonic possessions or it showcases what demons are about. But when a movie's title is about something else and then halfway throughout the movie, something else pops up, it'll bore me quite easily.

In the beginning of the movie when they show the Crusaders hacking all the "enemies of Jesus Christ", I was already losing 40% interest. The dates of the wars were correct (thank God!) but the location of the wars and the obvious fake backdrop was making me sleepy. Luckily B-bunz was there to feed curry puffs into my mouth once in a while. LOL!

Dialogue 1: What do you think? Am I good looking or what?

Dialogue 2: Oh my God, are you for real? Arghhhhh!!

I hated the demon. This is because the director tend to visualize the demons as some deformed man who was bit by some type of radioactive insect and turned into a worse-looking being. Oh wait, that was Spiderman. I didn't like that they made this demon man-sized with bat-like wings which closely resembled those winged vampires in the movie Daybreakers. I also didn't like that they made the demon weak. I mean, seriously, it's a demon for cheese sake. We understand demons as very evil and it's an entity beyond the grasp of human understanding. So why must you downgrade the demon's powers and make it look somewhat human? Isn't it better if you just make it a human with a little bit of magical powers instead? *Sigh*

Yet, if you still want to check out this movie, it isn't so very bad. It's quite entertaining sometimes. It is only in my opinion however - due to the fact that I prefer demonic movies to be strictly on demons and not described as something else - I say this movie is OK. Not too bad, but not an A+ either.

Hope you'll enjoy the movie more than me!

Movie Rating : 6/10

Book Review - Whoopi Goldberg Book

I first bought this book by chance when I went to SSTwo PJ the other day. Like I said, I need to read at least one book a month - novels are the best, but I do try to squeeze in other reading materials as well. I was not looking for Whoopi Goldberg's book titled "Book" in particular, but I am happy that I actually bought it. Let me tell you what got me to buy it in the first place. I read the back and thought it was not much of a help so I just flipped open a page and the first thing I read was this :

How can I pass up a book as funny as that?

This book is like the author herself. Quirky, witty and quite unpredictable too. There are some very insightful pages, from how Whoopi viewed life and the things going on around her while some pages are about her own interpretation of life, religion and everything else. There are certain things that I sometimes think about myself, certain questions that I find myself asking once in a while and certain aspects that I also feel quite at a lost or at crossroads that are touched in this book. This is a book for normal people going through normal things and making mistakes and learning through it. And it doesn't hurt if you laugh out loud on how closely related it is to your own life.

I actually brought this book all over the place in order to finish it. Which is why, as you notice, I haven't update my blog for the past few days. I had been busy filling my free time reading. It had been great to finish this book because now I can move on to another. LOL! Although this book does not give you advices like the Dalai Lama or give you 10,000 new insights like the encyclopedia, it does leave you with a little lighter heart and maybe a lingering smile too.

I enjoyed this book. I'll give it 7/10.

Come join me and read at least one book every month! You never know there might be some exceptional gems in between a few pages out there!

Times Opening Book Fair

I love books. I need to read at least one book per month. AT LEAST. If not, I can actually feel my brain turn into a square. Can you believe that? I don't know how I can feel that but I think I do, most of the time. I would try very hard to try to slot in one book every month. It's just me, I have been bookish since I was two years old. Yup, I started reading since I was exactly 1 year and 8 months old.

A few days ago, B-bunz and I went to this newly opened Mall in PJ, SSTwo Mall because I read that Times Bookstore is having an Opening Book Fair with fabulous discounts and offers. I don't usually pass up sales. I missed the last MPH Warehouse Sale so I try to make it up with this one. I'm not a Times cardholder (I only have MPH member card) but I don't care as long as I can get my hands on some books. And when some of them costs as low as RM3, I'd be crazy to say no.

I actually did not give up pestering B-bunz to come with me to this new Mall since I am not so sure where it was. As always, B-bunz never disappoint me and try very hard to give me what I want. The funny part was, although I was the one who insisted on coming to this place and walked around to find books for myself in more than 2 hours, I only bought FOUR. B-bunz on the other hand, got himself THIRTEEN books which brings the whole total to RM170. LOL! I have quite an influence on that boy don't I?

I love how cheap they are and at a good quality too. Wait, I don't read those Criminal Mastermind books. They're definitely not mine. Guess the four out of all the above that belongs to me!

Look! These are Hardcovers and they're sold at RM10 and RM8 respectively. Aren't they fabulous?? I can't wait for MPH warehouse Sale this 2011! I'll make sure to get some really good deals! Do you guys love to read too?
