Discover Your Miracle with Lancôme Maqui Miracle

I have always been a fan of Lancôme although I love it's fragrances more. I wear Trésor sometimes, I love the beautiful scent and also because I imagine myself looking as beautiful and confident as Penelope Cruz in the ad campaign. Oh well, a girl can dream, right?

When I was invited to the Lancôme Maqui Miracle workshop, I couldn't be more happier. I needed a lesson on makeup application and not to mention, a good makeup for my skin. Honestly, I am not much of a makeup user, I hardly wear any base, foundation or loose powder. And yes, due to lack of care of my face, I have a dust of freckles on my cheeks. I know, it's all my fault and so now, I want to learn how to get rid of that.

Lancôme first found its miracle in 2010 with it's Teint Miracle foundation that had managed to create the aura of perfect skin. Now in 2011, they've created a better creation that gives the aura lively brightness that lasts all day with it's Maqui Blanc Miracle. Now, there are three important key points of Maqui Miracle that you must know.

There are 8 shades available specifically for Asian skins.

Now check this. The colors are labeled PO, O and BO followed by numbers 0, 1, 2 and 3 (lightest to darkest). The PO stands for Pink-Ochre which is great for those with pink skin tones, O is Ochre which is a neutral color and great for those with no significant pink or yellow undertones and BO is Beige-Ochre which is for slightly yellowish skin.

 My Maqui Miracle

As a rule of thumb though, most fair skinned Asians falls in the BO or O category. I myself was given the BO-01 tone. I chose a powder that will make me look natural and subtle - that's my style, I do not like to stand out. However, if you're the type who prefers a more outstanding look, you may opt for one tone lighter than your skin color. You may also choose a tone darker than you skin color and fully make up your face to give that "bang" look.

So, how did it turn out on my own face? Ah-ha! Wouldn't you like to know?

Hulk Hogan on American Idol?

This Season 10 of American Idol is just so cool! First there's Steven Tyler with all his crazy comments (I should compile all his crazy comments and dedicate one post to it by the end of American Idol 2011) and now, this!

 Hulk Hogan

It was so funny when they first rolled VT of the boys - James Durbin and Paul McDonald - wrestling and goofing around in their mansion but when suddenly Hulk Hogan came out and announced that these two boys are safe, we're all incredibly relieved. I like Paul. He's got that star quality as well as a unique voice. However, I'll still support my Stefano Langone 100%. *Ahem* My Stefano Langone. LOL!

However, I am yet to fall in love with the lady contestants. I think Pia Toscano owns the best voice amongst all the ladies but I would agree with the judges that she need to showcase something different soon or she'll just end up blending into the background. I'm still waiting for that "goosebumps" from the ladies.

Bottom Three : Casey Abrams, Stefano Langone, Thia Megia

Of course, this same night left me quite speechless when both Stefano Langone and Casey Abrams became the bottom two. I already have this feeling that if Stefano is at the bottom, the judges will not use the "safe". But it was also a crazy surprise that Casey is the one at the bottom. When he sang the final song and Randy stopped him halfway, I think my heart is probably pounding as hard as his. I was wondering why the heck Randy stopped him when he only just started singing his song. But, it turned out that this is a unanimous decision and they are using the "safe" on Casey Abrams. WOW!

He was shaking when he shook hands with the judges. His face showed the state he was in. I am too, knowing that the judges used their "safe" when there's still 11 contestants left. Now because of this "safe", TWO contestants will be eliminated next week. I am hoping within hope that it won't be Stefano. He's got a good voice people. Vote for him!

I love today's performers too. Stevie Wonder is the best. He is an icon and an unbelievable artist. And wow, look at Jennifer Hudson! Oh, by the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Steven Tyler!!

Auto Correct that makes you LOL!

I was not feeling so good today, I think I might be getting the flu or something. I felt weaker than usual and although I had popped some Panadol, my spirit was a little on the low. So, when I stumbled upon this website as I was browsing through the internet, I didn't think much about it until after I started reading them one by one. That's when I just COULD NOT stop myself. I was laughing alone like a crazy person in my room. If anybody saw me laughing like this, they'd probably think I've finally gone mental.

Oh gosh, this made me question myself, do I really want an iPhone? LOL!

I guess if you're feeling a little blue, you can visit here and get some laughing pills to cheer you up. OMG, they're absolutely hilarious!

My Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon Ride Experience

OK, let me begin the story about the contest held in Twitter by @myballoonfiesta.

I found out that there was a contest where 5 top twitterers who tweets about the Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2011 and tag the @myballoonfiesta (so that they can count the tweets) will win free hot air balloon ride for two. So, since I had never been in a hot air balloon before (or being flown in one), I decided to enter this contest. About three days before the closing date, I was tweeting quite madly, apologizing to my followers at the same time for clogging the timeline.

By the end of the contest, I was told that I won a pair of tickets. At first, the person in charge (Nur Atiqah) informed me that my time slot is on Saturday morning and that I have to be at Secretariat, Monumen Alaf Baru, Putrajaya by 7.45am to register and then the hot air balloons will take off at 8am. A few hours later, she called me up again to inform that my time slot has changed to Sunday morning instead and again, she reminded me that I must be at the Secretariat at 7.45am because the hot air balloons will take off at 8am

Note : She reminded me TWICE.

At first, I thought I would not be able to go because of my "tie" with the Selangor Water Festival but after a last minute change of plans with the family (that's another long story), I was able to go to the hot air balloon fiesta on Sunday.

Now see this, I arrived at 7.45am at the Secretariat (Site C) just like she told me to. I had to wait for 10 minutes for the person at the Secretariat to call the person in charge about the hot air balloon ride and then text that person my name. Then, the same person at the Secretariat brought me to Site A at the Command Center. By now, it was already 8am. And what did they tell me when I arrived at Site A? ALL balloons have flown. (Check out map here so you can understand the layout better.)

I'm like, seriously??

The person I met at Site A (Mazlina, Razali and a very nice sis whom I forgot to ask her name - sorry!) asked why I was late and so I explained what the Twitter person in charge (Nur Atiqah) informed me on the phone about my flight schedule. Honestly, Nur Atiqah spoke to me in short and precise Manglish that does not leave room for any hidden meanings or misunderstanding. Again, let me stress here, she said clearly to, "come at 7.45am because 8am all hot air balloons are up in the air". Whereas Mazlina told me that the balloons had started to take off since 7.15am.

NOBODY TOLD ME THAT!

Yes, I was disappointed. So, Mazlina offered me the tethered ride. And apparently there were others who also missed their hot air balloon ride. Turns out, there were 5 groups who missed. So, they prepared a new balloon for us to ride at site G and yeah, I only got to ride the tethered balloon ride that goes up in the air like 4 stories high, stayed up for nearly 5 minutes and then settle back down to the ground. Insasmuch as I would like to say we went up again, we didn't.

Am I disappointed? Yes. However, it was kind of Mazlina, Razali and sis-I-forgot-to-ask-name to offer me the hot air balloon ride in the evening. They said, if I am around at 5pm and if the weather is fine, they will slot me in to the evening ride. Although I already guess it was quite far-fetch considering that for the past few weeks it always rains in the evening, I was also happy with that offer. At least they tried. Heck, they even gave Bbunz a tag so that we can get into Site A whenever. And all this while, I could not contact Nur Atiqah.

By 3pm, it was raining cats and dogs. And by 5pm, only some balloonists dared to brave the wind and none was willing to carry passengers with them. As a matter of fact, Bbunz and I witnessed two balloons crashing into each other and propelled one of them into the trees. That was a dangerous moment.

  1. So, was I satisfied? No.
  2. Would I wait until next year for another chance to ride the hot air balloon? Maybe.
  3. Do I have any suggestions? Yes, I do. I suggest those involved forward this hot air balloon event to the middle of the year or some time when the weather is not as wet as in March. In doing so, not only will  it attract more visitors from around the country - which means an increase in profit for the organizers - it will also allow everyone at the event (balloonists, visitors and traders on site) to feel more ease and will allow them to do what they do best better.

Come on, if you can organize something as big as this, it wouldn't be too hard to just change the dates that would benefit everyone right? If you need petition from the people, then rally up the Malaysian bloggers and twitterers. I'm sure A LOT would be willing to cooperate because if it's beneficial for us all, why not? Think about it guys!

Anyways, just some photos at the 3rd Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon event. More photos will be uploaded at FB.

Fireworks at the 3rd Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2011

The firework display happened on Saturday night (19th March), at Monumen Alaf Baru, Precinct 2, Putrajaya. The glowing hot air balloons display or better known as the Night Glow was also on the same night. It started from 8.30pm - 9pm.

 Glowing Hot Air Balloons

Doraemon LOVES Fireworks too!

It was raining heavily in the day so although in the night there was no rain, the ground was damp and slippery. The weather was pretty damp and hot that night but the moon was so bright, well actually that was the night of the Supermoon and I managed to capture photos of the beautiful bright moon. I was, however a little tired due to the hectic day schedule so right after the fireworks and snapping a few photos here and there, Bbunz and I headed home.

Isn't that a bright, beautiful full moon?

I will tell you about my winning the hot air balloon ride the incident that happened in my next post. In the meantime, enjoy this video of the beautiful fireworks!

    Scouting for DSLR

Honestly, I do not know where to start. I've had friends advising me to get Canon cameras while others telling me to get Nikon. Not only that, I have to think about the price too. There are some second hand DSLR that are only used 2-3 months yet the price is almost half cheaper than the price of cameras in the shop. The thing is, I am still new in this photography business and although I love to learn and try out new things, I do not want to waste my money over something I will regret later.

I used to be a very spendthrift person when I was younger but as I grew older, I find myself being pretty frugal. I always go for items with offers. I wouldn't mind if something is second hand as long as it's in very good condition and is at a very good price. Actually, if car boot sales like in the UK are done here, I wouldn't mind purchasing from that too.

Still, getting a DSLR is not an easy thing. I've tried out some of my friends' DSLRs but I haven't found something that fit me. I'm not sure what it is exactly that I'm looking for, I just imagine that the perfect DSLR would pop up from the rest, probably a bright spot light shone onto it from above and a romantic music playing softly at the background. LOL!

So what should I do? Which one should I pick? Canon or Nikon? Or maybe something else altogether? Oh goodness, I don't even know where to start! I am going quite crazy browsing through the web looking for the ONE. I hope I wouldn't get mad before finding the perfect one. Sheesh!

    It's Wednesday already!

It's already the middle of the week. Time sure fly by so fast. But you wanna know what is it that make me love Wednesdays? It's coz the next day is Thursday and Thursday is the day I get to see Steven Tyler and his crazy antics! LOL! Well, actually I can't wait to check out the American Idol contestants too. Do you know that tomorrow is the first week for us to follow the journey of the Top 13? That means they're all prepped for serious singing and will be performing as future recording artists.

    American Idol 2011 - Top 13

Amongst the Top 13, I have to say, I like that Stefano Langone the most. He's not only cute (that's quite important, I must say) but he's got this beautiful voice that reaches out to you - provided that he sings the right song. Sometimes you need the right song to bring out the magic in you, y'know? He was not one of the Top 10 picked by viewers. Stefano was one of the three wild cards (including Ashton Jones and Naima Adedapo) picked by the judges instead. But I think the judges did not make a mistake on this guy. View his performance for the wild card pick below and you'll see why.

Oh, and I read that they've already chosen songs for the contestants tomorrow too. I sure can't wait to hear them sing the songs according to their own unique style. Do you want to know what will the Top 13 sing tomorrow? Here they are :
    • Lauren Alaina – Any Man of Mine (Shania Twain)
    • Casey Abrams – With A Little Help From My Friends (Joe Cocker)
    • Ashton Jones – When You Tell Me That You Love Me (Diana Ross)
    • Paul McDonald – Come Pick Me Up (Ryan Adams)
    • Pia Toscano – All By Myself (Celine Dion)
    • James Durbin – Maybe I’m Amazed (Paul McCartney)
    • Haley Reinhart – Blue (LeAnn Rimes)
    • Jacob Lusk – I Believe I Can Fly (R. Kelly)
    • Thia Megia – Smile (Michael Jackson)
    • Stefano Langone – Lately (Stevie Wonder)
    • Karen Rodriguez – I Could Fall In Love (Selena)
    • Scotty McCreery – The River (Garth Brooks)
    • Naima Adedapo – Umbrella (Rihanna)
So what do you guys think? Are the song choice appropriate? And who would you root for tomorrow?

    Happy Birthday to LadyJava!

    Photobucket

    Dear LJ,

Amazing, is it not, that time has come again, every year without fail to remind you that you're getting older? Yet what is it about age anyway? It is nothing but just a number and as the number grows, it is an indication that the love from the people around you also grow. The years that goes by teaches you how to appreciate life and live it to the fullest. The years too teaches those around you to appreciate you in their lives and to love having you around. As for myself, I would say that it had been a pleasure knowing you this past one year - although it didn't feel that long - even if we only met once. You are a great friend and a fantastic creator in the web department. I hope that today will be filled with lots of laughter, love and happiness to commemorate another year of you becoming wiser and growing into a much better person that you already are now. Wish you all the best and may Allah bless you in everything that you do. Stay young at heart and stay quirky cute! *^_~*

    Happy Birthday sweetie!
    ~Bella and B-bunz.~

Oh yes, a birthday will not be complete without the surprise right? Sorry LJ, I don't have the real one. Is the fake one OK? Hehehe.. Have a fantastic day sweetie!

    HAPPY 100th INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!

    Happy 100th International Women's Day

Wow. We have officially celebrated women for 100 years now. Although I think we must have celebrated women for many thousand years already, it is also great to have a special day for us to stop and thank the women in our lives. Let's give them all a big hug!

So ladies, let's celebrate today with pride, confidence and a lot of positive attitude because no one and nothing can bring us down except ourselves. So appreciate ourselves and nurture the superwoman within us.

Anyway, I had been puking quotes at my Twitter for many days now yet I know some might not have Twitter account to follow me and check out my tweets or have not the time to read them. So here, I would like to share some funny quotes on women - please do not take offense on some of the quotes, they are purely for entertainment. Let's just LOL!
    • Women want to be treated as equals, not sequels.
    • Whatever women do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult.
    • Every time a woman leaves off something she looks better, but every time a man leaves off something he looks worse.
    • Being a woman is a terribly difficult task, since it consists principally in dealing with men.
    • If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.
    • I'd much rather be a woman than a man. Women can cry, they can wear cute clothes, and they are the first to be rescued off of sinking ships.
    • A woman is like a tea bag - you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.

Once again ladies, I would like to wish all of you, be it young or old, a HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY! *hugs*

    Tuning in to Tune Talk

What do you think? Would you agree with Jason Lo? In my opinion, we should be smart in choosing what's best for us. There are many mobile service provider here in Malaysia that promises a lot of thing that's said to be value for money but does that mean you can trust them entirely? Wait. Stop. Learn more.

My Sony Ericsson used for the review

I had been using Tune Talk prepaid for more than three weeks now for this review. I think what I love most about this prepaid is that it allows me to connect to the internet more because of it's cheap data/internet charges. Which is why you can find me being on my twitter more these past three weeks. I am so happy that I can turn on my twitter for half of the day and still I am charged only RM0.05. Yup, you read that right - it's 5 cents. You only pay 5 cents per MB, or more precise 1024KB. Can you get that with other prepaid provider? My current prepaid line costs RM5 when I turn on my twitter for 15 minutes. And that does not include me checking my emails every now and then. I think it's bollocks that I had to pay RM5 when I only have to pay RM0.05 for more usage and longer time being online with Tune Talk.

Another thing about Tune Talk that I truly appreciate is the flat rate call charges to other users. It doesn't matter when I make the call or who I called, I was only charged RM0.16 per minute. Although, I have to admit that I don't like to talk on the phone as much as texting. I guess that's one of the reason why I still use my old Sony Ericsson k630i because I can text as I drive without looking at the keypads. *Kids, don't do this. It is EXTREMELY dangerous!*

Tune Talk also offers low IDD rates that'll make you jump with joy!

Would you like to know how much it is to text? Only 5 cents per SMS. And it's to any number nationwide! What's more, there will be a notification popping up once a while reminding me to check my balance by dialing *133# - which I thought was great since sometimes I do tend to forget my credit balance until it's too late.

Oh, oh.. But that's not all. As a matter of fact, here I would like to inform you the best and never been offered services by any mobile provider in Malaysia so far :

    1. You will get free RM100,000 Personal Accidental Insurance Coverage underwritten by Etiqa.
    2. You can earn Tune Talk points for AirAsia flights every time you top up and the points will never expire.
    3. You also get to change your phone number anytime you like!
    4. Contests with attractive prizes too!

Tell me something, have you ever found offers such as this? And that's not more, once you've collected enough points, you're gonna love where the destinations take you!

The only part I hope Tune Talk could add soon is a postpaid line and also a way for prepaid users to be able to support BlackBerry Internet Service as well. I tried using this on a Blackberry phone but it does not support that and since I am soon planning to use a Blackberry for my business purposes, a prepaid with BIS option might make it more appealing to me instead of my current mobile service provider.

Are you a fan of comics?

When I was 12 or 13, my friends and I were crazy over comics. There were all sorts of comics being sold and there was this one particular shop that was very popular with us kids. I was also caught up in that phase and I was so into Sailormoon, I collected all 18 comics of the Sailormoon series. The girls in the comic was sexy but my friends and I were mostly into Sailormoon's boyfriend instead - Mamoru Chiba. He's sort of like Superman. Nerdy in the day and suddenly turned into Zorro-lookalike hero at night. LOL!

    Sailormoon & Tuxedo Mask

You must think I'm such a loser for being into a guy in the comics instead of a real guy. Well truth be told, I was sort of a late bloomer. I always thought guys are the most annoying creature on the planet and my first crush was only when I was 17 - and that too was purely coincidental. If it wasn't because of his long lashes that I saw the first time, I would probably finish high school as an innocent little virgin. LOL! Then it turned out he was a performer in both academics and sports and was best Bumiputra student for SPM in his school. Because of that, most of my boyfriends fell short from the expectation and I end up dumping quite a handful of them. But when I met B-bunz, I was hooked. B-bunz is way better than anybody I ever knew. He is super smart and a certified bad boy - such a lethal combination - and I fell with a thud. Oh, I love you B-bunz!

Oops wait, where was I? Comics, yes. I also used to tie my hair like Sailormoon. I wasn't trying to be cute or anything. I was just so into the character back then and since my hair length was until my waist, the hairstyle was not hard to copy. The only thing missing was my Tuxedo Mask (Mamoru Chiba). LOL!

Oh, the video below is so cool! If this ever happens in Malaysia, I'll be dancing in front of the mirror non stop!

P/S : A so-called friend borrowed some of my Sailormoon comics and never return them back. Now I'm short of 5 comics from the series. You cannot imagine how pissed I am with that girl! >.<

    Beautiful Wonder of the World

This was actually sent to me through one of those forwarded e-mails I always get from my cousin. When I first read it, I thought it was impossible. But since they also included a scientific explanation to it and believing in the treasures Allah s.w.t. hid for us to learn and explore in the crevice of this world, I accepted the beauty of this existence. I only wish, if I am not so afraid of the idea to begin with, is to dive down here and see this miracle with my own eyes.

Look at the photo above and ask yourself if there is anything weird about it. It sure looks like an ordinary cave but, think again. This is the passageway to Cenote Angelita cave in Mexico. The dive is a miracle in itself. Why? Because as you dive to the floor of the water-filled cave, deeper than 30 meters it is fresh water and deeper than 60 meters, the water is salty.

Then, some meters away before reaching the floor of the cave, you will see a river underneath, with trees coming out from the ground and leaves floating on some liquid level. Now yes, with your eyes it looks like a river but where the leaves float, there's actually a layer of hydrogen sulphide underneath. In the lab, hydrogen sulphide is very poisonous and flammable, which often is a result of bacterial breakdown in organic matter (in the absence of oxygen). So yeah, make sure you keep that mask on.

At this sort of wonder, how can we doubt the existence of a Greater Power?

    مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ
Surah Ar-Rahman 55:19 He sent forth the two great bodies of water (one palatable and sweet and the other saltish and bitter); they meet (each other).
    بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لا يَبْغِيَانِ
Surah Ar-Rahman 55:20 (Yet) there is a barrier (and inviolable obstruction) between them that they do not transgress (25:53).
