Pet World Malaysia 2011

Went to this year's Pet World held once again at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre. Did you know that this year is the 4th Malaysian International Pets & Aquatics Exhibition? Well, now you know. The exhibition is from 3rd - 5th June from 10am - 9pm. My family chose the last day to visit this exhibition - it's just our way, we always do things last minute.

By the time we arrived, it was already 3.30pm. The entrance fee for adult is RM5 and children is RM3. The Main Stage was alive with Product Introduction, Dog Lover Of The Year Award 2011 and some contests. The speaker was speaking in Chinese so I only understood a little here and there. We first entered Hall 1, which was a little packed with people before heading to Hall 2 and Hall 3. We didn't buy anything from Hall 1, only saw many types of dogs and this one particular obedient dog is just so cute and it's fur is so thick and fluffy!

They call this Rudolph-wannabe "Pom Pom"

When we got to Hall 2, Dad was interested in Kitty's Crumble, an organic pet litter made from uniquely processed grains of coconut husk that has unbeatable natural odour elimination, super absorbency and small carbon paw print. What's better is that you can recycle it as your fertilizer after use. There was a promo so we bought the RM75 pack and got the RM 25 pack for free. Now we just have to try it with our kitties. If they like it, then we'd prefer to change to this rather than using the normal cat litter. We bought this from the Progenesis Group booth.

Oh, Kitty's Crumble is not for Kitty only. It's suitable for a variety of pets - gecko, snakes, spiders, hamsters, rabbits, tortoises and birds too!

Cats at Cat Show

After playing with some puppies at the Petsmore booth, we made our way again to Hall 3 and this time we were greeted by cats in cages for The 4th Pet World Malaysia Cat Beauty Competition. Most of the cats were sleeping then, since the competition started at 10am and I saw some cats was starting to behave erratically, an indication that they're stressed out, probably because of the noisy hall and crowd.

In the same hall, we came across H.O.P.E. H.O.P.E. is the abbreviation to Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist. It is a non-profit, no kill shelter that rescues dogs and cats regardless of breed or age. When I saw the photos of the dogs, as usual it tugged a string at my heart. OK, maybe more than just a string. My feelings were further enhanced when the dogs I saw in the photos were actually there at the booth, brought all the way so that the visitors can see for themselves that these dogs exists and they are indeed in need of help.

Below I show photos of the dogs at the booth. Below is a photo of Kenko and Fortune. Kenko is a victim of a hit and run while Fortune is believed to be a victim of abuse. When I took this picture, Kenko was resting while Fortune was asleep.

Top : Kenko.   Below : Fortune

The photo below is of Kenko and Fortune when they were first brought to H.O.P.E.

If you feel like I did when I first saw these photos and you would like to help these animals, you may do so by donating to H.O.P.E. through their Maybank Acc : 5012-0808-5710 or you can contact them and check out for yourself the shelter at Lima Kedai, Skudai, Johor. Go to their Facebook or their website and find out more how you can contribute to their cause.

Seeing this kind of cruelty toward animals is draining to my mind. My family helped what we could today but what I can do next is just spread the word, hoping that some of you out there might reach out and help these animals in pain. Let's not turn our backs to them and let's stop cruelty to animals. Love them, do not hate.

Anyways, how was your weekend guys?

Our Johnny

Johnny (and Dad's legs)

A few weeks ago, on 20th April, our Indian neighbour's mother passed away. So, for the next three days, families and friends gathered at that neighbour's house and there were many people (whom we do not know) came and went from our area. In between the crazy three days, a young dog came to our house. The whole family came home one evening from dinner and this dog was sitting in front of our gate. We wondered who it belonged to, we were asking around but nobody knew where he came from.

He had a collar on so we assume he belonged to someone. Our Chinese and Indian neighbours did not want to care for him. There were days when it was pouring heavily but he had no place for shelter so we decided to let him in our house compound. He is especially friendly with Dad, always wagging his tail when Dad returns home and sitting near Dad's legs when he's doing some gardening at the front yard. I supposed it's coz Dad was the first person who gave him food on that night he came to us. In the event that he was with us, we named him Johnny.

Then one day, an Indian family came and took him away. They said they're his owner, staying closer to the front area of the Taman and we believed them. They were surprised that of all the people in the Taman, this dog came to us and they're more surprised that we actually cared for him because they thought we Muslims hate dogs. I don't know where they got that idea but Muslims DO NOT hate dogs. Why do these people have to generalize things anyway?

So few weeks has passed and we thought Johnny was fine until last Friday when he suddenly appeared in front of our gate again. This time though, he had no collar on and his body was filled with ticks and fleas. He was scratching everywhere on his body and he looked hungry. He drank the whole bowl of water we prepared for him and when we bought food for him (Pedigree brand), he finished the whole bowl in a few minutes too. He was in a rather sad state and we were shocked. How can this happen?

I think he had been beaten too because whenever he see a wooden stick, he would scurry to a corner and make whiny sounds. We feel so sad for him.

Collar gone and small wound marks around his neck

Our Indian neighbour (whose mother passed away a month ago) refused to keep Johnny because he said he already have two dogs and his dogs were trained to be very fierce whereas Johnny is a very friendly dog. He only offered to help give Johnny baths and help medicating the tick and flea problems. Our Chinese neighbours said they already have enough dogs to care for. One particular Chinese neighbour was so angry that Johnny peed near her bushes that she told us to throw Johnny in the river. I was like - are you for real??

Can't stop wagging his tail and always want to play

So now we're caring for him. Dad's contemplating either he should build a small wooden shed for Johnny in front of our house compound or bring him to our other house since the neighbours here are so hostile towards him. I don't know why they're so angry with him. It's not his fault he's here. It's his stupid owner's fault! The only problem with the second idea is that our neighbours at the other house are mainly conservative Malays. Also, my parents and maid only go to that house in the day to tend to our 30+ cats and they don't sleep there. Ahhh dilemma.

I wonder, does any of you here want a dog as pet? We call him Johnny and he's very friendly. He don't even bark. He doesn't know how to do tricks yet but I'm sure he is a fast learner because only a few days and he already understood when we gesture for him to go out of the house compound or when we call him to stay inside. He is a little scared of thunder and lightning so I think he will be more than happy to snuggle next to you when it rains and keep you warm at the same time.

What do you guys think?

New Bundles of Joy!

Dear friends,

Truthfully, I have been keeping this happy news to myself for a while now. However, I cannot keep this any longer and it is bursting out of me to share my happy news! You see, my first bundles of joy arrived on the 20th of April. This is the first time I ever am a parent so this whole thing was a huge deal to me. So come on, I want to share everything about my family with ALL of you.

This is my first wife... Her name's Tammy.

I have known Tammy since I was very very young. Dad and Mom rescued her and since then we were inseparable. I actually lost my *cough* virginity *cough* to her. LOL! I have two boys and one girl with my wife Tammy. They're three beautiful sweethearts, don't you agree?

Girl : Inanna.     Boys : Enki, Enlilah.

But then, my Mom and Dad hooked me up with another lady too. Although I am a little embarrassed to confess to this, but I am practicing polygamy. However, be rest assured that I love both my wives equally and truly. So, this is my second wife whom had recently bore me two beautiful kitties on 9th of May.

Let me introduce you to my second wife - Onyx.

Onyx is older than me. But I have no problem with the whole "cougar" thing. Come to think of it, I find it attractive that older females are attracted to me. *Cough* I can be quite a charm sometimes you know. Onyx is one of Dad's favourite meows and I am honored to be her husband. Onyx has some other kids before so I am also a stepfather to quite a few meows now too!

But first of all, let me introduce you to my two darlings with Onyx. I fathered one boy and one girl with Onyx. Isn't that wonderful?

Girl (left): Starflair.    Boy (right): Son-o-flame.

You know, being a parent is not an easy task. But before that, giving birth is not an easy task either! I was with Tammy when she delivered our babies. I was shocked at first! I couldn't understand why she kept shifting in the room and looked so antsy. At first we both thought she was having a normal stomachache. I say this because Tammy said she never had stomach pains like that before and I judged from her face that this could be some sort of diarrhea. I count my lucky starts that Dad and Mom checked in on us before they went to sleep and noticed Tammy's weird behaviour. They understood at once that she was about to give birth. Dad and Mom was with Tammy all the way while I was peeking from behind their shoulders. I couldn't help myself, I was so excited that I was going to be a Dad! I couldn't contain the adrenalin pumping in me that I had to sit in my water bowl just to cool down.

I respect how Tammy and Onyx endured the pain of birthing and how they took good care of our children. I vowed from the day that I saw my kids that I will always love and respect females all around the world, including my human family!

I couldn't wait to see my children grow up. I know they will be amazing and they will always have my love. My kids with Tammy have opened their eyes and I feel like I can swim in those dark blue colors. No matter what they do or if they have any shortcomings, I will never regret having them. Dad and Mom wouldn't let me mix with them so much because they're afraid my kids might get "infected" with my wild ways. I am, in fact not a domestic cat. I agree with Dad and Mom on this. Even though I love my kids with all my heart, but sometimes as a parent, we have to make sacrifices in order to provide a better life and future for our children. I've decided that I do not want them to be a "wild cat" like me and that they should be more exposed to their domestic counterpart. So, I leave it to my wives to teach them how to be good and sweet, not only to our kind but also to our human family. In the mean time, I shall always think of them and send my love to them from afar.

Before I end this, I hope that all of you can share the excitement in my heart and will be happy for me and my wives at the arrival of our new bundles of joy. Love you dear friends!

Yours faithfully,
Flaming Eyes (Ice)

This is bad..

I was bloghopping, browsing websites and replying emails when I came across this website on Circus sufferings and one of the groups they were focusing on is the Bobby Roberts Super Circus in the UK. Truthfully, I have never liked circus acts that involves animals. I have no problems with circus acts like Cirque du Soleil though, coz I consider that as artistic, athletic and amazing. But that's about all for me when it comes to circus.

I have always had issues when it comes to animals - be it domestic or wildlife - that are tortured. I love animals, no matter if they are big or small.
When I first saw the video below, I couldn't help but press a fist to my mouth and cry. I can imagine how the creatures feel, because even though they're animals, they still have sensory systems just like us humans and they can feel just like us humans too. When you hit them with force, they can feel pain, especially if you hit them where they are most vulnerable.

This video was taken this year. The abuse had been going on for many years, but now there is proof. What else do we want? Do we need an angry tiger to pounce and kill it's torturer before we'd react? Let's stop this! A circus is not where they belong...

I seriously feel like beating these bloody fellas with that stick they use right in their gonads.

Please, help stop animal abuse. Help stop circus acts. No matter where you're from, let's get our voice out together and stop this.

This video is longer, but watch and listen so you can understand more why we must stop this!

2 + 1

Hachiko, Fifi, Cloud

I haven't blogged about my cats for a while now right? So today, I would like to introduce all of you to my three watermelon kitties (that's what I call my Bengals actually), LOL! There are two females and one male. Now, which do you think is the male and female?

 Hachiko

 Cloud

Cloud chasing Fifi

These three are very cute and adorable. They are the litters of N.G. (Queen) and Ralphy (Tom). However, Hachi is the one most likely to bite when she's in a playful mood. I'll always have to warn her, "no biting", in a stern voice before she would stop biting and start licking my finger. Fifi is the smallest in the bunch. Her body is slim even though she eats a lot and she is also the sweetest. Cloud is just beautiful. I absolutely love his eyes. He look like a girl with those eyeliners. LOL!

Cloud and his eyeliner Goth-looking eyes.

We already have quite a lot of Bengal cats at home. I think we have about 12 Bengals already, not to mention the ones we gave away. I was just a little disappointed though that these three are the only descendants of Ralphy. I don't know why my mom had to neuter Ralphy and Ryan so soon. Ralphy and Ryan were good boys in comparison to our other male cats. Maybe my mom just can't stand having them climbing the house roof when they were in heat. Luckily one of their offspring (Hachiko) looked a little like them. If not, I would be much more disappointed.

Right now, I am so into Himalayan/Persian breed. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have at least one that looked like below. What do you think? Aren't they gorgeous?

R.I.P. Arya

Early this morning, some time after midnight, our beautiful female ALC has crossed the rainbow bridge. Her cause of death is severe dehydration and also water in the lungs. We were unable to detect it early because she was still up and about until the last minute. Due to some issues, we overlooked her condition and probably relied a little too much on our maid - who was supposed to only care for Arya (and only the cats in our house) - to inform us if there are any signs of weird behaviour in any of our cats. Sadly, it was a wrong decision on our part. I guess it is true what they say, "If you want things to be done right, you have got to do it yourself". My dad is most affected by this because he is the one who really love ALCs.

"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."

We love you Arya. We hope you're at a place with no pain, full of love and surrounded by friends of all kitty ages and sizes. Thank you for being a part of our family.

When I get bored...

I will video-hop at YouTube. I'll be streaming from one video to another but I will always end up at the animal-related videos. I have no idea why, but seeing cute animal videos just brighten my day. A few minutes earlier I was watching a video of Bella, a jaguar who was hand reared from young by the volunteers at Panther Ridge Conservation Center because her mother, Tia was unable to produce milk and feed her. Bella was hand reared until she's fully grown.

Truth is, my brothers and I LOVE big cats. Although my brothers are more into tigers and their stripes, I am more into jaguars and their spots (and sometimes I'm into the four wheels too!). However at the end of the day, it's just the big cats in general that my brothers and I are interested in. We just love, love, love...

Little Bella

Bigger Bella

Isn't Bella (and I'm not talking about myself) beautiful?

Watching videos of these animals just make me happy and so, I would like to share some of the snippets that made me cackle with laughter by making a short video below. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did!

The Blue-ringed Octopus

Imagine this :

First you feel nauseous. Then, your vision becomes hazy. Within seconds you are blind. You lose your sense of touch, you cannot speak or swallow. Three minutes later you are paralyzed and unable to breathe.

All this because of a blue-ringed octopus, an animal a size of a golf ball that packs one of the most venomous venom on earth. There are at least 5 different species of this octopus and they can be found in tide pools of the Pacific Ocean, from Japan to Australia. Even though the size is small, it's poison can not only kill one human but 26 adult humans in a matter of minutes. The venom is 10,000 times more toxic than cyanide. To date, there is no antidote to this venom. The only treatment would be hours of heart massage and artificial respiration until the poison has worked its way out of the victim's system.

I first heard about this octopus when I was watching NCIS on TV the other day and thought it is amazing that a tiny little thing can kill so fast, even before you can make out what it really is.

The octopus will only show it's blue rings when it is about to attack. The poison contains in the saliva which comes from two glands that is as big as its brain - each. Poison from one of the gland is used on its main prey such as crabs, hermit crabs and shrimps where it is pretty harmless to humans while the other gland serves as defense from predators. The octopus either secretes the poison in the vicinity of its prey and wait until it is immobile before devouring it, or it jumps out and envelops the prey in its 8 tentacles and bites it.

Amazing, is it not, something so small can also turn into a killing machine in such short notice? Check out the video and learn more about this interesting creature.

Just be careful. Don't go and pick up something on the ocean floor just because it looks pretty!

Can you bring pet dogs into 1 Utama Shopping Centre?

This happened a few days ago when I went to 1 Utama Shopping Centre. I was sitting at one of the F&B outlets - Penang Flavours on the LG Floor, waiting for my take away food to be ready, my eyes watching every passerby in front of me and enjoying all the variety of motions when I saw something that froze me momentarily.

Why? Well...

In front of the restaurant I'm in is Little Taiwan and right in front of Little Taiwan is a life-size cardboard of Maria Tunku Sabri and right at her feet, this happened.

Yup. Believe it.

If Maria Tunku Sabri's cardboard can talk... LOL!

The owners, an elderly Chinese couple was walking the mixed Poodle-like dog with a leash and acted like they didn't notice the dog stopped there a moment to do it's business. OMG. Not only was I appalled at the mixed breed, half mongrel looking dog they allow to walk around and sniff at everything in 1 Utama Shopping Centre, it is the owners who acted like they didn't notice the dog peed there are making me more nauseous.

I am not writing this just because I am a Muslim and thinks one of the way to caution my other Muslims  friends who are planning to go to 1 Utama Shopping Mall from incidents such as these, but even if you are not a Muslim yourself, how would you feel if you walked to a restaurant and sat yourself at a table to eat which not a minute before, some dog had peed next to? Don't tell me you can eat in peace. Coz if you say you can, then why not sit next to a monsoon drain just for the fun of it.

I have no idea if 1 Utama Shopping Centre allows their patrons to bring their pet dogs in the Mall or not, but having seen this with my own eyes, I don't think this is very hygienic or appropriate. What if, in a stroke of bad luck, the dog peed on one of those fluffy pillows they sell at the small stalls and you were unlucky enough to buy it? Anything can happen. I know that 1 Utama Shopping Centre is a big shopping mall but that does not mean they can neglect the security issues.

Come on, pet owners should walk their pets outside of the mall if they think it's a good exercise. Let's leave the shopping to the humans, hmm?

Crushing Bunnies for Money!

Remember my last post about this woman who sit on bunnies and crush them to death? Apparently, after a "human flesh" search is done - which according to the Chinese internet users, it is the use of individual networks to uncover the real identity of a person - the woman is found and is actually a nurse working at a hospital in the northwestern province of Heilongjiang.

Her name, is Huang Xiaoxiao.

It is said that she is paid by a group of "crush fetishists" to record those horrifying videos. Huang Xiaoxiao informed that this group pays her from 100 yuan (USD15) for crushing fruits until 200-300 yuan for other small animals and up to 400 yuan for rabbits. This girl said that she had done a few videos for the group and has been paid accordingly. It looks like this same group might also be responsible for the video that came out in 2006 of a woman crushing puppies to death with her stiletto heels.

These sad pathetic little psychotic women, doing all this for MONEY?? And a meagre amount for that matter! WTF?!

How much does she make with her pay as a nurse? Is it so little that she had to resort to killing animals to live? To think that nurses are responsible to care for you just like doctors are and that this same woman is responsible for the murders of all those innocent animals is mind boggling! You know, at this point, I think making money as a prostitute is so much respectable than making money killing animals. And for what? Just to satisfy the fetish of other equally sad pathetic psychotic aliens on this planet??

OMG, I am so angry. I AM SO ANGRY recalling how these girls can giggle and laugh while they sit on those poor bunnies just to get 400 yuan! That's only USD60! Oh gosh, if only I have the power to blow these crazy assholes with my mind with some Jedi-like powers, I would just blow up all these crazy fetishists  right now.

The worst part is when the woman responsible of killing these bunnies can actually defend her actions first before recording an apology for her actions. Seriously, throw her apologies into the drain. If you don't think you fall under the "I'm a Moron" category, then you know her apologies are worthless. She's going to do this again and again and again even if she's just paid USD60. To know that she would accept blood money like that, she is as psychotic as all these fetishists.

Put her in jail. Put those who had done the same thing she did behind bars too. Speak up for these innocent animals since they can't do it for themselves!

Our Cats

I guess if you've read my past blog posts you'll know that my family and I have more than a dozen cats. In fact, we have about 35 cats (and counting!). My parents are cat lovers, since a very very long time ago. They like to rescue cats, buy expensive breed of cats and also look for some hard-to-find breed of cats. In short, they're cat-crazed. LOL!

But their love of cats and other animals made me and my brothers learn to appreciate living things in this world. We love animals too. Our family don't limit to loving cats only, we love every other types of animals too. Which is why, animal abuse is something we totally oppose. Please, love the animals, because they are living things too.

Today, I would like to feature my Bengal kitties. There are about 10 of them actually but these are my two lovely boys who are totally adorable.

Ryan

  Ralphy

Actually they are two different cats. But they have quite the same designs and coat colour. The only slight difference is one have a darker shade coat than the other. You've got to look very carefully to know which is which. LOL! They're two very quiet and super friendly cats. And they love to sit spread eagle like this :

Fatso Hawk always landing on my legs

The kitties in this shed are real fatsos. They don't do anything much except eat and run around the shed all day. Yup, this shed is as big as a single room in KL. LOL! My parents have a lot of land for these kitties.

Raphael, Michaelangelo

There are also two spacious cages in this place for them to be isolated if they have any skin or health problems or for more privacy during a wooing session. LOL! One cage is about 5 feet long and 3 feet wide. My dad wants them to feel all the privacy in the world. Plus, the photo above is only one of the three sheds at my parents' new place. So you can imagine how many cats we have. (Take out your calculator now.. )

Falco

We have quite a lot of Bengals with dark patterns like Falco. He had another three siblings of which are all big boned and sturdy. He's very heavy too, and he loves to be held and tickled under the chin.

"What do you think? Am I good looking?"

Before I leave, look at my king. Don't you think he looks adorable with that lion-looking mane? Both my boys have that and it's actually fluffier than what it looks like in the photos! And do you notice he's smiling into the camera? LOL!

Psychotic Bunny Murderess

When I first saw this video of a woman sitting on cute living bunnies and crushing them to death, it was purely accidental. I did not wish to see something like that. And please be rest assured, I will not put the video here.  Up there is the only link you'll ever see in my blog. OMG, I have had a restless night and having crazy dreams after watching that video yesterday. You see, I am an animal lover. But even if you are not in love with animals, can you just sit and see them being tortured just because they are small and docile?

The feeling that came over me when I watched the video, oh my gosh, I can't describe it...

If I see these bitches, I'd shoot them in the head. Seriously.

Word are circulating that the woman responsible of sitting on the bunny and crushing it to death is a Chinese woman - straight from China. Same goes as her two friends who laughed along at her crazy stunt. I am not so sure who is behind the camera but I think it is some crazy psycho as well.

The last time I ever watched a horrifying photo of some crazy woman stepping on little kittens and puppies with her stilettos, the image was seared into my brain and is still there until today. Then last night, watching this horrifying video of bunnies being crushed to death was just too much for me. I have no idea why these crazy bitches upload the video on YouTube - maybe she's looking for fame in her psychotic little world - but this is the worst kind of video anyone can upload online. If uploading videos of you killing animals is alright, then does that mean in the near future, people will start uploading videos of them killing other people? What is wrong with this world?

Luckily, as of now, no video of this heinous action can be found on YouTube anymore. But there are still other video hosting that did not ban this.

If these crazy psychos think that uploading videos online and having people leaving comments (be it good or bad) is something great, then we should put a stop to it. Do not approve such videos and do not look for such videos either. It's just like Sales, if there's demand, then there's always a way to get things in the market. So, let's put a stop to this. Quickly get these psychos and put them in jail - or hell - whichever comes first.

I am very saddened at having to watch something so hideous yet powerless to do anything. I wish I could just put my hand in and pull those bunnies right out of my screen. I wish I hadn't seen the video in the first place. But not seeing these crimes does not mean it doesn't exist. Don't let yourself turn into an ignorant fool and believe it's all blissful in this world. Open your eyes. Animals are living things too.

Photos of the heinous action here.

My aunt's other pet

You see, my family have this huge number of cats as pets. My parents are crazy cat lovers. Why do I say crazy? Coz they try to get their hands on any types of cats. From the regular stray cats to the expensive hard-to-find cats and then they make a big shed for these cats to run around in and make friends with each other. There are two of these big sheds. One shed is as big as a bedroom.

My aunt have cats too. Though not as many as my parents. My aunt is a little disappointed because two of her boys - huge cats mixed Maine Coon and Bengals - have been kidnapped. Leo and T.J. are adorable cats and they have extremely gorgeous patterns. It's a big possibility that's why they were kidnapped. However, it left my aunt sad because she really love those two. Especially after seeing them grow up from a size of your palm to a big boned Maine Coon with soft fur.

I wonder why some people have the heart to kidnap other people's pets. You can't say you don't know they belong to someone because they have collars around their neck. Obviously those cats don't put in on themselves. Sigh.. Now, because she don't want the other cats to be kidnapped, she have to refrain them from playing in her yard, which is sad because she's got a lot of land and the cats are happy running around and getting their daily exercise.

So now, apart from having cats at home, she also have this!

I have no idea what is the type of this thing. Is it a mouse? LOL! He's a cheeky little devil and sometimes he bites too. Say hello to Muncheez.

I'm Spiderman

Why is his name Muncheez? Coz he loves cheese. When he gets cheese, he'll store them at the sides of both his cheeks and look like he gained 10 pounds. LOL. What a cutie!

Hachiko - A Dog's Tale

When they say that dogs are a man's best friend, I think they had a dog like Hachiko in mind. I know this is based on a true story and watching the movie, it totally got me bawling my eyes out. I sometimes wonder how an animal can be loyal to his master when it is sometimes very hard for a person to do something like that. Maybe people give up too easily. Or we let our selfishness overcome us instead of putting ourselves in another person's shoe and see things through their perspective, once in a while.

I don't have a dog. And some stray dogs that I came across, I have found loving homes for them. Plus, I have this fear of dogs - especially if they're big. I've had some bad experiences with dogs when I was younger. Once, a very fierce dog sink its teeth into my calf halfway while I was cycling. And another time, two big Doberman Pinschers even jump out of their fence, ran after me and scared the hell out of me that my bicycle and I went straight into a monsoon drain. I skinned myself and bent the front tyre of my bicycle. Luckily I didn't hit my head on something sharp. I was trapped in the drain for nearly two hours until my late Grandma notices I was not around and heard the Dobermans barking non-stop. She found me in the drain, scared shitless of those two big dogs. And all because I wanted to cycle to a grocery shop and buy some ice cream.

So yeah, I've had some scary run-ins with dogs. I'm trying to overcome my phobia now but sometimes, you can catch me circling around the block rather than walk past a big dog, no matter what it's breed. However, small dogs like Norwich Terrier is fine to me.

Have you seen the movie Hachiko before? If you say this puppy is not adorable, I don't know which planet you're from.

In this movie, the puppy is of Shiba Inu breed which is a smaller breed dog. But the bigger dog in the movie, is an Akita Inu breed which is the real breed based on the true story.

There are two types of Akita Inu breeds. There are the original Japanese Akita Inu which comes only in five colours - Red, Fawn, Sesame, Brindle, Pure White - whereas the American Akita Inu also includes Pinto colour and black masks. You can read more of Akita Inu breeds here.

Sometimes we forget that animals are also smart and intelligent. Sometimes we forget that they also have a heart and they can also be loyal. Sometimes we are too immersed in our daily work or routine that we neglected them, though they had never stopped loving us or thinking about us. If you have a pet, and you go on a holiday for a couple of days and left them with friends or family, do you notice how they behave when you return home and get back to them? Do you notice how clingy they become? That's because they miss you. You should appreciate your pet more.

If only people can have the same loyalty as animals, like Hachiko for example, who waited for his master in front of the train station 10 years after his master had died, the world might be a better place. Families might not have internal problems, companies might not have colleagues stepping on others' head to climb the corporate ladder, governments might not have opposing organizations trying to topple each other and the world might actually be a much friendlier, happier and high spirited place.

The real Hachiko

Monument oh Hachi in front of Shibuya station, Japan.

Maybe we can learn something from this dog. Loyalty cannot be bought, it can only be earned.

My feelings are everywhere

I don't know what I should feel today actually. Yes, I have finally received the cheque which I won in the F&N Drink Drink Win Win Contest. It had been a fabulous news when I got it two weeks ago. However, receiving it today does not mean much to me. Why?
  1. Because once the cheque is cleared in my account, 70% of it will go to my brother. Yup, I owed him. It doesn't matter. I don't like to owe anyone. Whenever I can pay, I will do it ASAP.
  2. One of our cats died today - Baby. My brother found him in the morning, dead at the front door.
My dad said it must be poisoning but my brother said it couldn't be because there were lots of blood coming out of his mouth. Although he was already dead for maybe an hour or two when my brother found him, the blood was not dried yet. If he was poisoned, he should be regurgitating some sort of fluid or vomiting but not blood. So my brother conclude that he probably was hit somewhere and he still came home or someone must've hit him in the face or something. I couldn't look at him. I just cry when my brother told me he died.

Baby is almost 4 years old. He was a stray kitten when my parents found him - all the way from Bukit Merah Laketown, Perak. He had this short pig-tail and ginger fur. He's a very sweet cat, sometimes he might get on our nerves because he likes to lean on our legs even when we're walking and we would nearly trip because of him but most of the time he's just obedient. And he took out a lot of rats too.

I don't know what to say. I feel so sad and down. Only yesterday he was doing his regular trying-to-trip-Bella routine when I went to the kitchen to get some food and today, he's gone. I am sad especially knowing that in his pain, probably some time after dawn, he still made it back to his home. We buried him in front of our house, even though some people said it's not good to bury dead animals near your house compound - I do not know why.

Baby, you will always be remembered. We LOVE you.

My unhappy Hari Raya

Ketupat

So it have been a few days since we celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri. I have been eating non-stop the past few days, I think I have gained at least 5 kilos from all the food I consumed. Luckily I haven't experienced any stomachaches or diarrhea. LOL!

Kuah Lontong

My first day was filled with lontong. I love my mom's lontong. She cooks her Singapore lontong, which is different from the Malaysian type - I have no idea why. I had about 7 big helpings of her lontong that first day itself. However, what pissed me off on that first day was some kids who came by the house to ask for duit raya and kept ringing the bell even though it's already in the evening and when we didn't open the door, they kicked my father's Triton.

The thing is, we don't want to let these kids in the house for Hari Raya because a few years ago we had a very bad experience with them. Some of them vandalised our furniture, some stole the little priceless things (such as crystals) that we had on display while some others had the gall to ask for extra duit raya. My dad gives RM10 to each of these kids, whom we do not know and we suspect come from the other housing area. Isn't RM10 enough already? Some people just give RM1 to kids they don't know. Because of that experience, we're very cautious of whom we let in to our house on Hari Raya. And from the looks of it, the parents of those kids who kicked my father's Triton must've forgotten to teach their children on the meaning of Aidilfitri.

And I also had to care for my aunt's kitten as she's in Singapore for Hari Raya. So, here's the little kitty. Her name's Daisy.

On the second of Hari Raya, my dad's Jaguar was stolen. And then it's used for a robbery somewhere else.

WTF right??

My dad left his Jaguar at our other house which have not been installed CCTV or alarm system yet because  he just bought that house. The reason he left the car there is because the garage in our current house is already full. Plus there are more land in the other house. But the thing that made me so grateful was, on that night, my dad told my mom that he wants to sleep over there because he's so tired and sleepy but my mom insisted he comes home because she's worried since there are no grills on the windows, it might not be safe. So they came home but it was almost 2am by then. My parents only left for the other house the next day around noon and when they arrived, they realized that the Jaguar is gone and the house was broken into.

At almost the same time, at another place somewhere in Kajang, a house was robbed and the robbers used my dad's Jaguar as the getaway car. The neighbours of that unlucky house caught the plate number and did a police report which tallies with my dad's police report and now they're busy looking for my dad's Jaguar.

I thought it was lucky though - what with gruesome death stories in the news these days - that my dad did not sleep over there that night. God knows what would've happened if he was there by himself. Subhanallah!

As you can see, it had not been a very fantastic couple of days. Sigh..
