Today is the day that I wished I was dead - Day 3

As always, we checked out in the morning. Right after breakfast at the World Club Lounge on the 28th Floor we went to return our keycards and gathered at the lobby. Charles Gluck of Unbelievable Sculptures by Jerome Murat was nice enough to see us off.

Amelia & Charles Gluck

By this time, my stomach was already making funny dances. After taking a small box of Chi Kit Teck Aun and we took some farewell photos and got on our bus. We were heading towards our next destination but we had to stop at another Genting Highlands attraction before we leave. It's none other than the Chin Swee Temple. I just hoped the winding roads towards the bottom will not make me feel worst.

When we reached Chin Swee Temple and I got off the bus, the lack of swaying settled my dizziness and stomachache a bit. I managed to take some beautiful sceneries, videos and play fake dam with Husni and Eyriqazz.

What is so special about this Chin Swee Temple?
Apart from the location which gives the most attractive view from the mountain, this temple was actually built by the founder of Genting Berhad, the late Lim Goh Tong as a tribute to the Goddess Chin Swee. Lim Goh Tong had a dream one night while he was sleeping in a "cave" where the Goddess Chin Swee informed him that he will be very successful if he explore the mountain and make the Resort. So he vowed that if the dream becomes a reality, he will built a temple to commemorate her. Since then, he had built the temple on the spot where he got his dream. However, it took almost RM20million and 18 years to complete because even though the location was very strategic, it is also dangerous.

The location overlooks KLCC and KL Tower.

After that, we headed to the beautiful Kanching Waterfall.

By the time we arrived at Kanching Waterfalls, my legs felt like rubber. I was already in cold sweat even though I was just climbing to the 2nd level of the waterfall. I felt faint too. My stomachache wasn't so unbearable but the occasional "pulling" sensation sets me back a little. The waterfall is beautiful with clear water sloshing on the stones. But sadly, due to time constraint, we couldn't jump into the water.

And another attraction here, the monkeys. LOL!

Sorry for the lack of photos. By this time I am too sick to think of photo-taking.

We had KFC for lunch but I couldn't even finish one piece. The stomach problem was killing me and our caretakers have decided that if I am still in pain by the time we reach our next destination, they will bring me to the clinic.

Dorani Homestay, Sungai Besar.

When we arrived at Dorani Homestay, Sungai Besar, I was as pale as a ghost and was straight away brought to a clinic in Sabak. Jacquelyn and I was brought to the clinic because Jacquelyn also had some fever. At the clinic, the doctor checked for my blood pressure which is 100/82. In medical terms, that is LOW. However, I've explained to the doctor that my condition is most probably because of food poisoning - based on my symptoms and my medical knowledge - but he seemed adamant that it was gastritis. Since I am not a certified medical practitioner, I was unable to sway him to my conclusion. In the end, he decided to give me gastric medications instead. However, he did jab me so that the "pulling" sensation that has been plaguing me the whole day would be gone.

By the time we arrived back at the meeting point, everybody was already at their foster parents' home. Both Jacquelyn and I were sent to our foster parents home too and Jacquelyn is my room mate again for the night. When we arrived at our foster homes, I fell flat on the bed. When it was dinner time, I only ate three spoons of rice with vegetable soup. Then, my foster mom gave me some ice for my head. By this time, I was already groggy from all the meds.

So, I didn't follow the rest of the bloggers to Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park, Kuala Selangor. Since I am feeling very woozy, it's not advisable for me to sit in a sampan and risk toppling over. Plus, I started to get fever and even though my body was hot, I was shivering cold. I am still disappointed though, because I had never been to a firefly park before.

At about 11.30pm, when I was supposed to take my next medication, my foster mom prepared hot tea, bread and Kaya spread for me. I can tell she was very tired then, but she still made the time to get more ice for me and talk to me while I eat.

My foster mom, like many others at Dorani Homestay originally comes from Indonesia. There are many Javanese descendants there. So it's quite normal when she utters some Indonesian words as she speaks. From the way she spoke of her children, I can hear an underlying loneliness. She has 7 children, 12 grandchildren (and counting!) but they've all migrated elsewhere and she's left alone with her husband accepting strangers into her home for the touring packages. Some strangers were kind while some were not so sweet. Yet the two of them will still welcome anyone for the Homestay program.

Terima kasih atas segala bantuan dan kesabaran makcik!

I promise that one day, when I am healthy and free from other obligations, I will come back here and visit her.

By midnight we were both sleepy but one thing I noticed was, she didn't even close the front door of the house tight, let alone lock it because the others were not home yet. But, imagine doing that in KL, your house will be wiped clean in less than an hour. Ahh.. The beauty of living in the village. I just prayed that the next day will be a much better day for me!

The Beginning of a 6 Days Tour - Day 1

Woohoo~ Day 1, here I come!

Map Of Selangor.

OK. The beginning of the journey started at 3.40pm for me. Everyone was supposed to arrive at 3pm, but having to attend class at the last minute that ended at 2.20pm and then go home to pick up my stuffs, and not to mention the rain that poured monkeys and elephants throughout the drive to the meeting point, it took a while for me and my parents to arrive at Skypark Terminal, Subang.

Skypark Subang, Information Counter.

The minute we arrived, Amelia (our "Mommy" for the tour) found me in front of Starbucks and I went in to join everybody else at Kapitan Kopitiam where everyone was gathered. There were food and drinks for everyone but I was too nervous and tired to grab a bite. I had managed to sleep only 2-3 hours the past few nights because of my assignments which I had to pass up before I join the tour. My professors were willing to let me off (including the next Monday and Tuesday) provided I pass all assignments and take quizzes before the rest of the class. Oh yes, very "helpful" of them. So, it seemed that at the starting point of the My Selangor Story tour, my battery has depleted to 50%.

After 10 minutes arriving in Kapitan Kopitiam and introducing myself to some of the other bloggers, Raja Sa'adi, the Head and PR & Marketing for Firefly stood up to give us a welcoming speech as well as giving us some input on Firefly's services.

Come fly with Firefly!

Now, did I mention that this My Selangor Story tour brings bloggers from three countries together - which are Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia? And who flies in the bloggers from outside Kuala Lumpur? Firefly of course! They also happen to be the Official Airline for this competition. A little sad I am staying in Selangor, if not I would be able to try their services and inform you guys how it's like myself.

Right after that, and a whole lot of photo-taking sessions (what you expect? LOL!), we were brought to our tour bus to go to our first destination - Carlton Holiday Hotel & Suites to check in and freshen up. We were paired up in buddy system and Jacquelyn was my room mate. Right after freshening up, we headed down the hall where we were all introduced to Mdm Rissa Chan, Executive Director of DSC World Sdn Bhd. DSC World Sdn Bhd is the company for Pentax cameras which is also the Official Camera used in this competition.

Pick your cameras kids!

After going through our cameras like jakuns (LOL!), we were then introduced to our Tourism Selangor's caretakers. After a lot more photo-taking sessions (oh yes, you are going to be shocked with all the photo binging in this competition), we got our itenerary and found out that we'll be going to the City of Digital Lights! The last time I went there was on my birthday in August but going here again will be so much fun. I am crazy for colorful lights. I used to LOVE going to Orchard Road, Singapore just because of the lights. Colorful lights turns me into a happy cheery 6-year old.

Right after hopping off the bus at i-City, we were brought over to EVENTS, where Mr. Eu Hong Chew, the CEO of i-City briefed us on the history, objectives and summary of the City of Digital Lights.

EVENTS & Mr. Eu Hong Chew

And then, it's EATING time! What better way to welcome us into this tour than a wide range of steamboat dish? Oh anybody but anybody who knows me knows I love Steamboat. Plus, we were served in the MIDDLE, surrounded by colorful lights. How can I NOT love this tour? And when other visitors walking by looking at our tables with a why-do-these-people-get-to-eat-here look, it is absolutely priceless. LOL!

 FOOD!! Yums!

While eating, I suddenly realize this beautiful moon up in the sky in between the beautiful lighted trees. What a night. Just the right weather and temperature.

Romantic, isn't it?

Right after eating, it's photo-taking time (again!). I've warned you, this tour is FILLED with photo-taking. I tagged along with Eyriqazz, Zaid and makcik Zara and explored the 4.5-acre park that is filled with state-of-the-art light display and sculptures. The lightscape in i-City features Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Christmas themes. Not to mention, by the end of this year (possibly 25th December), more lights display and three more giant screens will be installed to accommodate the increasing number of visitors to i-City.

About two hours eating and photographing i-City, we hopped on the bus again to our next destination - Uptown Shah Alam.

Honestly, I've never been here. The only Uptown I frequented was Damansara Uptown back when it was super hype few years ago. Plus, I was staying in PJ at the time. Uptown Shah Alam is just a little further from my house.

Operation time : 8pm - 3am

We had a warm welcome by En. Aizul Hisham, the Managing Director of Dataran Usahawan Selangor Sdn Bhd (and his little girl) where he shared his recipe to being successful in business. We had some sandwich and cold drinks before we start walking around the bazaar. The types of shops here :

  1. Clothes for men and women.
  2. Accessories for men and women (i.e. shades, hats, necklaces, bracelets, etc).
  3. Collector's items (i.e. coins, dollars, party items, old firearms, antiques, etc).
  4. Food and beverages.
  5. Animals of all kinds and races (They have imported animals too).
  6. Property booths and car purchases booths.
And the best attraction of all at Uptown Shah Alam? None other than ----> Karaoke Session!

Azuan in ACTION!

Right after all the excitement (and my brain shutdown half hour before that), we were on our way back to the hotel. Our MSS Mommy handed us our P1 Wiggy, where P1 is our Official Broadband Provider. But I don't know why it can't connect to my laptop. After so many tries, I just took a quick hot shower and got ready for bed. By the time I settled in, it was nearly 2am. All I was thinking is that I just need to "reboot" my brain before I crash and hang. LOL. Nites all!

Day 1 is on 23rd of September, 2010.
