All good things must come to an end - Day 6

*Sob* Please prepare tissue boxes everybody...

Woke up early in the morning - I realize I have been waking up so early even in the weekends for this competition. LOL! - and started to pack my stuffs. There were lots of stuffs indeed. I think I started this competition with two bags that weighs 3 kilos and went back home with double that weight.

But through the fast paced tour, we've managed to make new friends, get to know each other more than just faces behind a blog and learn our own strength and durability. Nothing is impossible. And fun can be found at every corner of the country. It would be fun if we could meet again, maybe for a better and bigger competition! Or, maybe we can just gather together and reminisce the fun and laughter we had in this journey.

After breakfast and handing over the keycards, it was time for everyone to say Goodbye. By noon, everyone's back to their routine life.

Saving the best for last - Day 5

I am in the hospital. *gasp*

Yup, true I am in Tropicana Medical Centre, Kota Damansara. But not as a patient. As a tourist. LOL! Tropicana Medical Centre is the Official Medical Centre of My Selangor Story.

Medical Tourism is also a form of tourism in Malaysia. In 2008, Malaysia is TOP FIVE (5) of Medical Tourism in the world. Malaysia is third after Panama and Brazil followed by Costa Rica and India. The strategic location of the country, modern infrastructure and internationally recognised quality standards is what made Malaysia one of the destination for services in medicine.

Medical Tourism includes Cosmetic Surgery, Dentistry, Alternative Medicine and others.

We were brought from the Mammogram room all the way to the Semen Collection Room (LOL!). The Mammogram technology itself is very up-to-date:

1. Mammogram machine uses CAD (Computer Aided Detection) which gives off 40% less radiation than normal Mammogram machines.
2. There are colorful lights on display which will help distract patients when the Mammogram process begins.
3. Due to the CAD technology, results are 50% clearer than normal machines.

The MRI machines is also up-to-date :

1. There are 32 channels which can detect infarction in coronary artery and such. 
2. Also for better results in tracing breast cancer because dye is inserted before checking for hidden tumors. Especially good for dense breasts.
3. The MRI machine only uses "contrast" and not "radiation".

The last time I was in an MRI machine to check my brains due to some "memory problems", it had been quite scary because the machine is so big and my head is trapped in a box-like cover but looking at the MRI machine in Tropicana Medical Center, it is one of the latest machine that will leave any patient relaxed and calm.

After touring the hospital, we then got on our bus for lunch at a restaurant right outside Sunway Pyramid - Frames! This is a one framed-up restaurant, I tell you. Full of frames everywhere!

And right after filling our tummies, it's time to go to Sunway Lagoon Theme Park! However, since I had to submit a final assignment, I had to skip the Theme Park. However, there are so many new stuffs here in Sunway Lagoon. There's the Amusement Park, Extreme Park, Water Park, Wildlife Park and Scream Park. The latest attraction here? Bungee jumping!

By 7pm, all of us already gathered at the lobby for our Farewell dinner. We're all psyched to go to Ampang Lookout Point, me especially, since I had never been there before. But guess what? Our driver took a wrong turn somewhere in the middle and what could've been less than an hour's journey (through bad KL traffic) turned into a 2-hour journey. I was already very fidgety in my seat. But many took the opportunity to either listen to music, turn on their laptop, or catch a wink.

However, when we arrived at Haven Restaurant, situated at the Ampang Lookout Point, everything was worth it. The rain didn't even manage to dampen our spirits. We were famished, and not to mention at awe of the view. All thanks to Haven Restaurant, which is also the Official Restaurant for this competition.

The food was fabulous. And honestly, it is not even that expensive. Food at Haven Restaurant starts from RM30. What an affordable price! I had the Haven Special BBQ Beef Ribs. OMG, it was a huge portion, I just couldn't finish it myself. It was probably the biggest portion of all in the menu - FIVE parts in total. So, I only managed to finish two parts, and persuaded Zaid, Thristhan and Dylan to take one part each. Oh guys, you are my saviours! LOL..

What a magical location. Superb for a candlelight dinner with that lady you want to impress!

This will be in the album of my life forever. You guys are the best!

Feeling Better Already! - Day 4

I'm Feeling Better Already!

And honestly, I was. I don't have a fever anymore. I had Nasi Lemak as breakfast and even managed to finish it. Still, I'm not pushing myself too much, for fear the stomachache would return.

Where I stayed. Beautiful huh?

After waving goodbye to our foster mom who's attending and helping out a neighbour's wedding ceremony, we went to the meeting point to gather with the other bloggers. Photo taking sessions again! Lots and lots of cameras passed to our nearly-official cameraman, Feeq. Then, it's going on the bus again! Wave all the pretty flowers and paddy field goodbye!

After more than 2 hours on the bus, we arrived at our next destination - Hotel Pyramid Tower, which is our bunk in place for two nights. This will be our last stop, thank goodness. All this backpacking, checking in and out of hotels was starting to wear my shoulders off.

Right after checking in, and buddying up with Nicole, we freshened up a little before heading out to Mantra , Sunway Pyramid for lunch. Mantra dishes are more exotic - Indian and Asian Cuisine. It is sad to have Jacquelyn leaving us then, she pulled out from the competition and now, there's only 26 bloggers left.

What's best about today is, we have the whole day to roam free! Yippee! And what did I do? Watch movie, go shopping, eat! And then, I went to visit my family doctor, who concurred to my initial conclusion - I had food poisoning. So I was given some medications for the problem and in just a few hours, I was ALL fine! Funny why some doctors just won't listen.

Look! There's even a ferris wheel in Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall! How cool is that?

Today is the day that I wished I was dead - Day 3

As always, we checked out in the morning. Right after breakfast at the World Club Lounge on the 28th Floor we went to return our keycards and gathered at the lobby. Charles Gluck of Unbelievable Sculptures by Jerome Murat was nice enough to see us off.

By this time, my stomach was already making funny dances. After taking a small box of Chi Kit Teck Aun and we took some farewell photos and got on our bus. We were heading towards our next destination but we had to stop at another Genting Highlands attraction before we leave. It's none other than the Chin Swee Temple. I just hoped the winding roads towards the bottom will not make me feel worst.

When we reached Chin Swee Temple and I got off the bus, the lack of swaying settled my dizziness and stomachache a bit. I managed to take some beautiful sceneries, videos and play fake dam with Husni and Eyriqazz.

What is so special about this Chin Swee Temple? 

Apart from the location which gives the most attractive view from the mountain, this temple was actually built by the founder of Genting Berhad, the late Lim Goh Tong as a tribute to the Goddess Chin Swee. Lim Goh Tong had a dream one night while he was sleeping in a "cave" where the Goddess Chin Swee informed him that he will be very successful if he explore the mountain and make the Resort. So he vowed that if the dream becomes a reality, he will built a temple to commemorate her. Since then, he had built the temple on the spot where he got his dream. However, it took almost RM20million and 18 years to complete because even though the location was very strategic, it is also dangerous.

After that, we headed to the beautiful Kanching Waterfall. 

By the time we arrived at Kanching Waterfalls, my legs felt like rubber. I was already in cold sweat even though I was just climbing to the 2nd level of the waterfall. I felt faint too. My stomachache wasn't so unbearable but the occasional "pulling" sensation sets me back a little. The waterfall is beautiful with clear water sloshing on the stones. But sadly, due to time constraint, we couldn't jump into the water.

And another attraction here, the monkeys. LOL!

Sorry for the lack of photos. By this time I am too sick to think of photo-taking.

We had KFC for lunch but I couldn't even finish one piece. The stomach problem was killing me and our caretakers have decided that if I am still in pain by the time we reach our next destination, they will bring me to the clinic.

Dorani Homestay, Sungai Besar.

When we arrived at Dorani Homestay, Sungai Besar, I was as pale as a ghost and was straight away brought to a clinic in Sabak. Jacquelyn and I was brought to the clinic because Jacquelyn also had some fever. At the clinic, the doctor checked for my blood pressure which is 100/82. In medical terms, that is LOW. However, I've explained to the doctor that my condition is most probably because of food poisoning - based on my symptoms and my medical knowledge - but he seemed adamant that it was gastritis. Since I am not a certified medical practitioner, I was unable to sway him to my conclusion. In the end, he decided to give me gastric medications instead. However, he did jab me so that the "pulling" sensation that has been plaguing me the whole day would be gone.

By the time we arrived back at the meeting point, everybody was already at their foster parents' home. Both Jacquelyn and I were sent to our foster parents home too and Jacquelyn is my room mate again for the night. When we arrived at our foster homes, I fell flat on the bed. When it was dinner time, I only ate three spoons of rice with vegetable soup. Then, my foster mom gave me some ice for my head. By this time, I was already groggy from all the meds.

So, I didn't follow the rest of the bloggers to Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park, Kuala Selangor. Since I am feeling very woozy, it's not advisable for me to sit in a sampan and risk toppling over. Plus, I started to get fever and even though my body was hot, I was shivering cold. I am still disappointed though, because I had never been to a firefly park before.

At about 11.30pm, when I was supposed to take my next medication, my foster mom prepared hot tea, bread and Kaya spread for me. I can tell she was very tired then, but she still made the time to get more ice for me and talk to me while I eat.

My foster mom, like many others at Dorani Homestay originally comes from Indonesia. There are many Javanese descendants there. So it's quite normal when she utters some Indonesian words as she speaks. From the way she spoke of her children, I can hear an underlying loneliness. She has 7 children, 12 grandchildren (and counting!) but they've all migrated elsewhere and she's left alone with her husband accepting strangers into her home for the touring packages. Some strangers were kind while some were not so sweet. Yet the two of them will still welcome anyone for the Homestay program.

 Terima kasih atas segala bantuan dan kesabaran makcik!

I promise that one day, when I am healthy and free from other obligations, I will come back here and visit her. 

By midnight we were both sleepy but one thing I noticed was, she didn't even close the front door of the house tight, let alone lock it because the others were not home yet. But, imagine doing that in KL, your house will be wiped clean in less than an hour. Ahh.. The beauty of living in the village. I just prayed that the next day will be a much better day for me!

Knock Knock Knocking on Heaven's Door - Day 2

There was no wake up call. 

So while we were supposed to wake up at 6.45am, both Jacquelyn and I woke up at 7.20am. And that, thanks for my phone alarm. I managed to grab a quick shower, I just can't NOT shower in the morning. Then we made sure we had all our stuffs (because we're checking out) and rushed to the cafeteria. There was not much food left by then so I grabbed what's left - Fried Rice.

Not long after, we're back on the bus to our next destination - Royal Selangor Visitor Center which also happens to be our Official Souvenir Shop. We followed our tour guide Jien, while I'm a little lagging at the back, taking long times to stop at each display to fully appreciate the lines and carvings of the pewters and other items on display. Well, I'm a little nerdy in that sense, heehee!

After walking around, checking out the things on display and watching how the artisans cast, file, solder and polish objects to create the beautiful Royal Selangor shiny items, we went to the most attractive place in RSVC. None other than the School of Hard Knocks.

Yup, we were knocking so hard (and without proper technique) that we must've awaken all the Gods in Mount Olympus, I tell you! Everyone must be venting their anger on something or someone one way or another. They looked so serious I think I can laugh. Oh, but I also manage to hit, bang and hammer my pewter to turn into a nice smooth bowl. Yeay! Although we got to take this lesson FOC but sorry folks, enrolling in this school is not free. The fee to join this school is RM50 per person.

Now I've got a trivia question for you : Do you know the year since Royal Selangor has been around?

Royal Selangor was FOUNDED in 1885. Imagine that! More than a century of producing the finest collections of high quality pewter products!

Isn't she cute? Don't be surprised, Datin Paduka is the granddaughter of Royal Selangor founder - Yong Koon. She was with us to tell us the story about the Melon Teapot and why it is now sitting in display at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre with other equally beautifully made pewter products.

 And we got our own certificate too!

Right after that, it was the destination we've all been waiting for - GENTING HIGHLANDS!

Now if you were wondering, isn't Genting in Pahang? So why are we going there? Ah'ha.. Here's another trivia for you!

One word to describe the acceptance of our arrival in Genting is - STYLE.

We arrived on the top of the mountain a little late. We were told that Y.B. Elizabeth Wong, Exco of Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment was already waiting for us. After everyone was gathered together, Y.B. arrived to join us for a photo session as well as lunching session.

Listening to Dato' Anthony Yeo Senior Vice President of PR & Communications at Resorts World Genting calling us ambassadors instead of bloggers, is an honor indeed. How cool is it to have the Senior VP come to welcome us himself! It's no wonder that Resorts World Genting is our Official Resort in this competition. And not to mention, having the cute Manager of Promotions & Entertainment Genting Malaysia, Mr. Jonathan Chua - that my friend can't stop gushing about when looking at his photo - (sorry, he's married) sitting at our table is also pretty cool.

Right after lunching (and mind you, we eat A LOT!), we got our goody bags! Other than leaflets, an all access pass to the Indoor and Outdoor theme parks and a special access pass to World Club lounge, the goody bag also contains a RM100 Holiday Card spending money and RM100 worth World Club Card points. Now isn't that an AWESOMESAUCE welcome??

Then, it was time to check- in. So, I thought we will still be paired up in buddy system but surprise surprise, I thought wrong because we actually got a Superior Deluxe Room (worth RM275 on a "Shoulder Season" such as that day) ALL to ourselves!

And the next best thing? You can drink directly from the tap too!

By the time I settled in my own room, it was already 5.45pm and the Outdoor Theme Park is closed at 7pm. So, I decided to try the Indoor Theme Park instead. It was so much fun!

And by 9pm, we were all DAZZLED by a BEDAZZLING performance of DAZZLE! 

Guess where we sat? We're in the VVIP seats. We're even in front of the VIP seats! And the best part of all, we were allowed to TAKE PHOTOS!

 Inside The Pavillion

Oh it was a super fabulous show! We enjoyed it so much. I was sitting in between Azuan and makcik Zara and the thing that made us laugh like mad people was when one of our bloggers, Spectre was called out by Magical Ernesto Planas for some comical tricks. Oh gosh, that was so incredibly funny. Oh, and when the "Showgirl" dancers walked and danced 5 feet in front of us, I can hear Azuan drooling loudly. LOL!!

Anyways, some of you might know that one of the Rules for this competition is to post an entry at the end of each day on our experiences but since our P1 don't work, all that we could do was to look for some good wireless around that can upload photos and videos in a timely manner. By this time, it was nearly midnight and many of us were too tired but still strong-willed to try to write up a post.

However, not long after that, our prayers were answered. Our MSS Mommy changed the rules and let us make blog posts AFTER the end of the tour. What a relief! No running around trying to find a stable internet connection. *wipe sweat*

Now I'm gonna leave you with a scary thing - SNAKE in GENTING!
